Building first rig.

The TJ07 is lovely, but you might consider a thermaltake armor? i personally think they are the nicest black case on the market, though others disagree. Or if its too big, an armor jr?

Check em out, and nice specs! I'm building my first rig after christmas, and so is brooksie. We should communicate as we build

EEEWWW TT sucks in my opinion. Get the silverstone matey! ;)

SIlverstones.. or the A+ black pearl.. Personally i wouldnt get the raptors.. save yourself ALOT of money and opt for one 160-250GB HDD can get them for around £45.. :)

what's with all the tt haters?!!?

surely someone sides me, and apparently kietsu, must like out of the ordinary designs. The TJ07 is nice, but it is too plain for me. Thats why i like the NZXT and TT cases. They have curves and doors, and swooshiness!

I own a TT armor (black one) and I really don't mind it. If choosing to buy another case again, I would definitely go for something different like the silverstone cases that people have recommended or the Lian Li. These have really smooth aesthetics that are very appealing to me.

but the thing is, the TT's are great if have no access to power tools, or dont want to kill your case. And in all honestly, they look good, for the most part, though i hate the kandalf.

Curves and doors? That what you look for in a case? It's all good if you get someone to build your pc for you.. But if you are, you want build quality so installing is easy peesy.

I dont mind if theyre not silent. i just wont SPEED...i heard having like 2 raptors windows boots up in a couple seconds or something...thats the sort of thing im looking for, if that helps :)

One question.. why does windows booting in 2 second effect anything?

Pointless if you ask me! :)

Thing is, you say you have to look for build quality, but when I helped a friend set up a TT armor, which was how i got into all this, it was great. Well placed parts, no sharp edges, easy to install fans and drives, HDDs were fine too. It was good, so why do people hate TT? Is it because they prefer more conservative designs which can be modded, or just dont like the sci-finess of TT?

I just assumed if windows loads up fast then everything else should run at speed :)

If you want windows to load fast, get an SSD drive, as you WILL notice the difference with that.

As for the raptors being faster, its a myth. their seak time is still onpar with 7200rpm drives.

RAID0 two 7200rpm 16mb cache drives and you wont notice the different between them and the raptors.

OR! you could go full on SAS at 15k rpm, where the seak time is 1 or 2 ms faster.

well yes, they are cheaper, and the speeds are not that different.

Also they last longer. Their transfer rate is faster, due to being sata2.
