Hi, i'm new here.Looking to build my new PC within the next few months but its been many years since I did this so i'm very rusty.
Am aiming to very soon.
I've considered the following
Phenom II X3 720
akasa revo thermodynamic heatsink and fan(i chose this as it appears quite small and not that loud)
ASUS M4A78T-E
2x2GB Corsair ram
SATA II 320 GB Seagate ST3320418AS Barracuda 7200.12, OR 400 GB Samsung HD403LJ Spinpoint T166, SATA II,
Enermax 500W Liberty Eco Modular OR
Akasa Power Green 80 600W (non modular)
gainward gts 250 512DDR3
I dont play that many games(Dreamfall, diablo II and maybe a few new ones) and I dont want anything superfast so i feel the above should be ok for a few years.
Last time I built a PC I used Raid 1(mirror)
Am I right to assume that mirroring makes the hard drive more reliable but slows it down as it needs to copy data twice?
If one hard drive was to fail could iIstill carry on using my computer like normal with no changes to the hardware?
what are your opinions on the suggested hardware above?
I'm not sure whether to go for the seagate or the samsung. Or the Enermax modular or the Akasa PSU?
I've used enermax before with no problems and I like the idea of modular. But does it matter?
All of these seem to have got good/ok reviews but I want real life experiences, thoughts and opinions positive or negative welcome!
thanks
