Building a new PC

Hi all,

I'm building a new PC to a friend. Those are the components:

Intel Core i5-3570 3.4Ghz
ASRock H77 Pro4/MVP
G.Skill Ripjaws X DDR3 1600 PC3-12800 8GB 2x4GB CL9
WD Caviar Blue 1TB SATA3
NOX Coolbay SX Devil USB 3.0
Aerocool Strike-X 600W Modular
Gigabyte Radeon HD 7870 OC 2GB GDDR5
LG GH24NS95 DVD 24x Black

Do you think this computer is ok? He is not going to do overcloking ever and he is a standard user (playing videogames, surfing internet, watching movies...)
Is it a well balanced computer?

Thank you!

i would say to change the PSU and the case to ones that are a little higher in quality.
PSU you can always pick up a Corsair builder series or a BeQuiet PSU cheap and they are tip top quality.
as for a case the cheapest one that i would buy for that size boar would be an NZXT source 210. i would also advise getting an aftermarket cooler as the intel stock cooler can be noisy and isnt great

This pretty much sums it up.

Any reason you're picking Ivy Bridge over Haswell?

Sorry I forgot to add the cooler. It is a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO.

What do you think about the Corsair CX600M 80 Plus Bronce Modular?

About the case, what about the NZXT Source 220?

Thanks!

both good choices for a budget system,
i would always get a fan controller, OR make fan curves in the bios if you can, and populate the case with good quiet airflow fans so its cool and quiet

Hyper 212 Evo is pretty much the best for the price :p

600 Watts should be more than plenty to power that system, so that's definitely a good choice! Corsair is one of the best brands for power supplies and the fact that it's partly modular makes it even better.

Looks like a decent case. For that budget you could also have a look at the Bitfenix Shinobi and the Corsair Carbide 200R. Those cases are pretty similar but you can choose which you think looks best :)

One last question, what about this case? NOX coolbay VX red devil USB 3.0

Nope.

It's kind of a typical low-end budget case of which they say it has many features, while many of them don't work. Cable management for instance:
There are holes, but there's barely any space between the mobo tray and side panel so while there are holes, the cables simply won't fit. Even worse; I doubt the 24 Pin cable will even fit through those small holes at the side :o

Just stick with the NZXT Source 220, Corsair Carbide 200R or Bitfenix Shinobi :)

Corsair would probably be a tad better quality, but I'd personally go for the NZXT.

The front is all mesh and will allow for better intake, especially cause you can mount 2 fans in the front of the NZXT and only one in the Corsair. The NZXT comes with a 120 in the rear and a 140mm in the top. I'd put that rear fan in the front if I were you (or just buy 2 extra 120mm fans for the front (I heard you like LEDs)) :p

In the Corsair you can fit a radiator like the H100i though, you cannot do that in the NZXT case. As you're not overclocking you won't need watercooling and the Hyper 212 Evo will serve you fine.

Should I go for a cosair carbride 300r for a little more money or is not worth it compared with the nzxt 220?

As far as temps and such go it won't matter much. The 300R will be a bit more 'luxurious' though. Radiator support, better HDD mounting, an extra USB 3 port and probably just overall slightly better build quality :)

Corsair 300r would be a great starter case. Though i really only suggest nothing lower than Fractal Design case, those cases are built like tanks:)
