Build Spec advice.....

I'm doing a new build as well my current rig is well out of date....I was originally straight out going for a Z77 i7 3770K build on the G1.Sniper 3 but now I found I can go with an X79 i7 3930K build on the Asus Sabertooth for about £120 more, would the extra money be worth the upgrade if the rig is just for general browsing/films/games?

Not worth it mate, and neither is that board or CPU for that sort of use. An MSI Z77 GD55 with an i5 3570K would be a much better choice

i did think that the performance gain would be minimal as the hex-cores don't get used in games. But the choice of board was also to do with looks as i wanted to have a black and green theme....hence G1.Sniper 3.

so the 3570K would be better than a 3770K... didn't expect that. Ill have a look at some reviews.

Thanks for your reply PetrolHead247

If your going for a green and black scheme by all means go for the Sniper 3 and a 3570K

well i just had a look through some reviews at gaming and some benchmarks....around 1-5 FPS difference and 212 points in 3Dmark11 with around 2000 points in physics processing (all in 3770K's favour) so i suppose there isn't really a massive difference in gaming.

But would the extra threads help at all with prolonging it use in the future as if not i will just go with the 3570K?

I just found this deal that you might be interested in if you go x79 http://www.dabs.com/products/asus-intel-ultimate-bundle--includes-p9x79-pro-motherboard--intel-core-i7-3930k---16gb-ddr3--7VJJ.html?refs=4294943710&src=3 and try code sunny40 as this might get you £40 off aswell, hope this is of some help to you

Go with a 3570K as your only demanding task that you gonna be doing is a gaming. I highly doubt the 3770K would even give a 1FPS difference in games
