Hey guys just wondering if you guys could help me out my friend wants a PC just for playing the game Minecraft. I have some spare parts lying around some are quite old but other than him having to buy a new motherboard an cpu i have everything else here is the list:

H.D.D: 160GB (IDE)
RAM: 4GB Corsair Value Memory 2x2GB 1333Mhz DDR3
CPU: http://www.ebuyer.com/238329-amd-se...cket-am3-retail-boxed-processor-sdx145hbgmbox
MOBO: http://www.ebuyer.com/398372-asrock...ket-am3-vga-5-1-channel-audio-matx-n68-vs3-fx
PSU: 400 Watt
GPU: 512MB GDDR2 Sapphire ATI Radeon X1300XT

my question simply is with the new mobo and cpu do you guys think it would run minecraft deccently only asking becasue in my mind i think it would but i dont wann give him the pc and it bee total B***s as he would of just wasted money

also i opolagize if i have posted in the wrong section :)

From what I've read, the X1300XT will not be able to run Minecraft. Is there no way you could try the card in your system and check if it runs?

IDE..... no spare sata drives? I hope he likes making a cuppa or chopping firewood while the rig boots into windows.

Yasser I have had minecraft running on the card it was in a system with a 775 mobo and a pentium 4 cpu but need the upgrade for it to run stable i hav now changed the cpu anyway instead of the sempron he is going to go for the AMD Athlon II X2 270 3.4GHz

Deejeta suprisingly enough when i installed windows on the 775/pentium 4 combo i mentioned above the boot time was pretty decent and that was with windows 7 i thought it was weird tbh but hey if it wants to go faster than indended im not complaining lmfao

Thanks for all your replies guys going off what SavageCupcake said about the GPU i might be able to get away with the cpu and memory i have atm and just get a new GPU here are the specs currently:

H.D.D: 160GB (IDE)
CPU: Intel Pentium 4 3.00GHz
RAM: Geil 2GB (2x1GB) DDR 200MHz
PSU: 400 Watt
GPU: ATI Sapphire X1300XT 512MBytes

I Will change the GPU for this one: http://www.ebuyer.com/385842-asus-gt610-1gb-ddr3-svi-hdmi-pci-e-graphics-card-gt610-sl-1gd3-l

Minecraft is running and reckon if i change the card to something better insted of changing the mobo/CPU it would run do you think that would be ok or would i be better off just upgrading the lot cpu mobo and graphics?

once again thanks for all your replies :)

If you can stretch the budget it'd be better to re do the lot. something like an amd apu would negate the need for a gpu. Also that ide drive is going to go at a snails pace so id change that aswell :)
