Hello

My friend who is about to start a game design course at college has asked me to build him a rig that he can use for college but also he can game on it because he enjoys that.

Here are the specs:

Intel i5 2500k

MSi z68 GD-80 (G3)

MSi GTX 580 TwinFrozr II

Be Quiet Dark Rock Pro

8GB Corsair Vengeance (LP or Not?)

OCZ 120GB Agility 3

1TB Western Digital Caviare Black

Corsair AX850w PSU

CoolerMaster 932 Advanced

He said he has between £1000-£1200 so i have picked based on that if there are any sujestions then please feel free.

Thanks

i wouldnt change anything maybe the case though and possibly the RAM

maybe a RV03 and a few gigs of ridgebacks

yeah if you go vengeance then you need to go lp cos of ram clearance

If he's gonna do 3D rendering with it, the 2600k would be alot better.. In games and in the design software itself a 2500k will be just as good, but if he's gonna do a lot of rendering the 2600k is really worth the extra money

Much, much, much cheaper at ALMOST the same performance, plsu it can run all current games at max

So... your saying my £170 560 ti beats a 580 or comes close... not really.... 570 yeah but in that case a 460 is similiar to a 560 ti and then the 5850 is similiar to the 460 and etc etc... so that way of thinking isnt always right just get the best single card you can afford...

i only shuddered at the use of OCZ as the boot drive..

personally i would swap it out for Corsair Force 3, or the Mushkin Callisto Delux.

Although i will admit i have NOT used their SSDs, i have used OCZ ram and PSU in the past and my faith in their name is a little shaken

i would recommend going for the Fractal Design Arc as a case as i only hear good things about it and the CM 932 adv is still the same case it was with a cheap usb3 5.25" drive bay slot, i recommend watching TTL's review on the cases, but it is your friends choice he will be the one looking at it.

I spoke to him about the case and he said that he likes the looks and cost of the Fractal Design Define R3 so i think he will go with that

I spoke to my friend about the ssd and we decided to go with the Corsair Force Series GT because we have a cheaper case so we can spend a bit more on the ssd and it looks allot better.
