Budget upgrade for a mate

He currently has a Pentium 4 old style with a geforce FX 5500. Budget is around £200. I have no idea what his PSU is atm until i look at it.

E7200 - £83

Asus P5K iG31 - £37

Powercolor 4670 512mb - £61.89

2GB corsair pc2-6400 - £24

Total so far is £205. Adding a Hiper 420W psu on top of that will come to £230 Shipped.

TBH if you are on a budget you are better off looking at the AMD processors.

Or hit Jim up on this tbh. Sure u can throw in a 7900GS special for... pfft.. £35 or whatever. But there`s an opportunity.

Swap out the E7200 for a E5200. Saves 20 and gives you a nasty (in a good way) x12 multi which will make ocing it to a sensible 24/7 level easier as they're low FSB capable chips. Aim for between 3 and 3.6 for 24/7 use.

I'll swap the E7200 for the E5200 and that'll bring the total down nicely. Think the stock cooler might be up to 3-3.6 ham?

I would take Jim up on his offer but there's too much that would have to be done just for a simple upgrade (cpu heatsink, better graphics/sell 7200) added i don't even know the form factor of the case yet
