Been wanting to upgrade to ultrawide for quite some time. Budget is limited as I'll need a new graphics card as well to drive it as I only have a 7950 boost at the moment. Will be dropping a 1070 (probably strix oc) in my system at the same time.
I have been seriously looking at the AOC u3477pqu as it's the cheapest 3440x1440 screen around and has had good reviews. I had seen it for £470, but now it's gone up by £30 so I've started to look and see if there is anything else I could stretch to and have seen the Dell u3415w for just over £600, so a difference of £100, although stretching budget wise, may be worth it for the curve and the dell warranty.
Obviously I realise that these screens are both 60hz and don't have g-sync, but the X34 or PG348Q are too far out of reach for me price wise, with needing a new graphics card as well. Also I mainly play racing games (assetto corsa, etc), and very rarely play fps games so the 60hz/5ms should be fine for me. Also from the benchmarks I've seen, you'd really need more than a 1070 to make use of a faster screen.
Really interested to hear thoughts on which I should go for as they both have good reviews. I guess the question is: does the curve make enough of a difference to justify the extra £100?
Thanks,
Dave
