budget build

Im new here so thought I would stick a wee build thread up...
wee bit of background...

I used to have an HP computer it was a top of the range thing at the time it was on vista but I put xp on it as I hated vista..

I was working funny hours and never really got time to sit on it so I decided to buy a all singing and dancing Acer laptop to use. ( was my first experience with windows 7 )
so as time got on and my youngest son was born and spent his first 6 month in hospital I got offered voluntary redundancy so as the wifes job was more secure we made the decision I would become the full time carer for our youngest.
so my redundancy went towards a car for me and with what was left I decided to build a PC..

I originally bought a motherboard and cpu bundle from ebay and built it up.
( fx 6200 and an asus board ) I bought a msi gts 450 2gb card off ebay as well and was happy with that for about a year..

I decided to upgrade the cpu and thats when I opened a can of worms...

I got a fx 6350 from a mate and a gigabyte board. this didint last long..

I ended out with a msi 7950 boost edition gpu from the same mate.

I then decided on a board upgrade and bought the sabertooth 990fx.
before I knew it I had the fx 8350 in there and then upgraded the cooler with the H80i

so before I knew it I was sitting with the set up I have now but yip... ive still got the bug.. I'm still thinking.. what else can I put in there...

so current set up is..
zalman z9 plus case with a few mods to allow better airflow
sabertooth 990fx R2 board
fx 8350 with the H80i for cooling.
msi 7950 boost edition
12gb corsair ram @1600mhz
128gb samsung ssd system
2tb seagate storage H/D
LG blueray burner/ player
Be Quiet powerzone 650 psu
corsair K40 keyboard
rat 3 mouse
LG W2486 monitor

Nice spec dude, I agree you desperately need a case replacement and a good few hours making right all the cables.

cheers bud.

as I say I have got a strong urge for the R5 case. I just need to clear some funds

yea since I upgraded to the Be Quiet psu with it being that bit longer its a nightmare for the cables behind it. the cables under the H/D are flat against the side panel but wont fit in behind the motherboard tray sadly. :(

I wish I had been a bit more clued up when I went for my case. my main thought at the time was if the 7950 would fit as it wouldn't fit in my old case.

just realised how far ive come from having the above..

heres my update..

i5 4690k @ 4.2Ghz
Phanteks PH-TC14PE
Gigabyte Z97X
16Gb corsair vengeance @ 1600Mhz
Samsung 850 Evo 250Gb system
seagate 2tb data
XFX xtr 750 fully modular Psu
Lg bluray writer
gainward gtx970
Phanteks Enthoo M case

looking good sir.

huge upgrade since the start of the thread.

cheers.
when I bought the new case the Fx8350 cpu took early retirement when I swapped everything over to the new case.
At first I thought it was the board but I tried a spare 1090t I had sitting and it booted up.

the FX8350 got RMA back to AMD but while this happened I got itchy feet and bought the 4690k and board. once I got them built up and up and running I was really impressed so when the Fx8350 got replaced I sold them and kept the intel. I then got the 970 and the old 7950 now lives on with my old set up in my mates machine.

I decided to try the air cooler in a moment of madness and im finding it to run cooler and quieter than the H80i so ive stuck with the air cooler.

Im planning on some faster Ram and Im tempted to drop in an i7 4790k and then use the 4690k in a mini system for my oldest lad.
