I'm saying this after trying safari (FF was playing up and futuremark's new browser benchmark here says it was one of the best performers) but still not convinced..

it looks nicer, but pages are taking a bit longer to load i think, and cpu usage is too too too high some of the time

just wondering if i should go back to firefox, apologise and take it out for a "make up" dinner

I found that the addon i liked the most made browsing unbareably laggy (adblock plus)

Not had a problem with Adblock, weird.

Have you tried to adjust the Firefox settings? They are ridiculously configurable and there's even add-ons that do it all for you...

I had the problem with adblock plus (easy list subscribed) hadnt changed any settings apart from block third party cookies (set as default in safari may i add) and opendownload (allows you to "run" downloads which safari allows as standad)

Very odd. Running Adblock plus right now (although OC3D is obviously on my whitelist!), and don't find any lag with Firefox - even with like 15+ tabs open!

Trying opera at the moment, but firefox is still my favorite. FF needs the opera download tab though, not that crappy seperate window >:'(

EDIT: oh, the quick 'back' too. Opera seems to load the page completely from cache unless the page really demands a reload. Makes browsing the forum a lot faster, new posts page loads in no time :p

Have had a fair few crashes too, remarkably enough usually happens when I have alttabbed out of a game a few times.

First program ever telling me politely it has crashed and asks you what to do next though :p

Internet Explorer... it works, so fine by me!

Saying that IE8 does not, and I have no idea how to "downgrade" to IE7, so Firefoxing it til then, but my loyalties lie with IE

I used to not mind Explorer but found that there were a lot less trojans being aimed in my direction when I used Firefox. I also noticed a huge difference in speed but that was back in 2MB connection days, now I'm on the 20MB line, can't see there being a huge difference.

I've voted for Other. On my vista machine, I use Google Chromium, on my Win 7 machine, I use Firefox 3. I would use Chromium on Win7, but it just won't run.

Why Chromium?

The source is available, and it's easy to tweak and add/remove whatever you'd like. It's fast, responsive, never lags (I dare say this as 4gb is the new standard ram!), and best of all, a simple and uncluttered interface.

been trying chrome the last couple of days..

i must admit, it is much faster to load pages, but i wont be swithcing permenantly just yet. it is missing far too many features atm, and it keeps crashing (although admittedly this is the new beta).

since the engine is open source, what needs to happen is for someone to come in and use the code to design a browser with the best features of both FF and chrome. i realise that the uncluttered chrome design is intentional, but i feel that the rendering engine is better than FF, and with a few mroe features (and not made by google) it could be a winning browser for most.

Safari is the favorite for me atm, mainly cos I been apple netting for while now.

Tbh, similarly with IE and windows, it comes with it and does the job enough for me not to complain. Only thing that bugs me with IE surfing is every 'wat is out there to get u if u use it. Likewize it's amazing IE does as well as it does under the onslaught.

Wouldn't shun any of them in particular tho. Do wish other people used something other than IE purely for the reasons above and hopefully fewer calls about their pc being ill.

Opera is the only browser that's currently works on my comp. I really need to fix/reformat it as I'm pretty sure it's some sort of virus.

Safari loads a lot quicker, and runs faster than my bloated firefox. I think I have >15 extensions on in FF.

I have been using Safari for the past month or so now as my sole web browser and have abandoned Mozilla QA for the time being.

Firefox might fall behind a bit on benchmarks, but in terms of customisation and addons, in my opinion, it can't be beat.
