I have built a brand new gaming rig (specs in my sig) but after 2 weeks of use my brand new Seasonic X-750 is not working.

I have took apart the computer and it booted fine with my old PSU. when my PSU is plugged in I get the led buttons on the bottom of my motherboard lighting up but when I press the start or power button nothing happens

and I hear a small buzz coming from the PSU.

When I purchased the new parts for my pc I paid about £40.00 for insurance that lasts for 28 days from Scan computers that will protect me if anything goes wrong. should I contact scan and ask for a replacement or should I try and get hold of Seaconic to see if they can repair my power supply?

Check the 4/8 pin connectors are in properly, check that both ends of any modular cables are in. Check that the 20+4 pin mobo power cable is in all the way. It looks as though the motherboard is getting power, but check that there are no powered usb devices (e.g. hubs) plugged in and try again.

If it is still dead try a jump start (using a paper clip and google to find out what to do), if it spins up, its likely that a connector isn't in right, otherwise you may well have a dead psu. Scansure or not, you should have no problem getting a replacement, contact scan first as they can generally sort things out very quickly.

Just did the paper clip trick and the power supply powered on for 3 seconds before powering off again so I am going to ring scan tomorrow and hope for the best.

Scan would have covered it anyways, the insurance is just if YOU break it not if a product becomes faulty on its own.

That insurance is a bit of a con imho.

They will deffo replace it though dude.

^ That.

It's like those extended warranty things they try to sell you at Currys ETC. They go on and on about a three year warranty.. It costs loads and in quite a few cases you get one any way.

Scansure is good if you have never built a PC before. It would (or at least should) cover bending pins on a CPU by seating it incorrectly (in the case of AMD, Intel don't use them now do they?) but yeah, bit of a rip.

It's more annoying that they put it in craftily as you check out. I got stung £8 once because it auto adds and I didn't remove it. Which I wasn't best pleased about.

Maybe they have changed that now, but yeah, something else that has stopped my buying from them..

Back to your PSU. Seasonic are among the best power supplies on earth. They are ludicrous money and because of that should be backed very very well with warranty.

as said scan will replace the PSU no issue,if they cant they will give you a refund as its under 28days
