Bluetooth “Network cable is unplugged”.

It would not surprise me to find that I am in the wrong place to ask this question. If so, sorry.


I am having problems getting the blue-tooth to work on my PC. Error “Network cable is unplugged”.


I have the Maximus V Extreme motherboard, Windows 7 Pro.


antivirus on/off,
blue-tooth drivers up to date,
antennas are connected,
virus scan / malware scan completed,
device manager: shows device working properly,
applications and services: blue-tooth devices set to auto and show started.


I have turned on everything there is to turn on and nothing I do makes a difference. Any advice would be helpful at this point.

1. get rid of useless avast
2. are you batman? (dat insane asylum lan)
3.update bios
4. install any software from asus that might be used to control BT
5. do you get bluetooth icon on task bar? can you use that to connect etc?

Pretty sure you're getting MSE and Avast mixed up now. Avast did step up their game recently.
 
Need to install drivers for the bluetooth from the cd first i think before updating them. You might have downloaded the wrong one or something.

1. What works for some may not work for others. Avast has provided all my computers the security they needed for many years and I am a happy paid subscriber. I have had 0 problems and openly suggest the use to others. When I used “the other” major option I had issues from virus intrusions to over use of memory (not to mention it thinks so much of itself you need a second program just to get rid of it). I too have read the articles and test postings, but I also know what works for me. Thanks for the suggestion though. =00=

2. Not to judge, but the idea of a grown man living a secret life running around in the dark wearing tight black leather, mystifies me. Lan is reflective of my personality, “nuts and willing to enjoy it” LOL :crazy:


3. Not speaking from experience here, but I believe the only thing that would scare me more than updating a working Bios would be a masked man wearing leather approaching me in a dark alleyway. However, your advice was logical and likely necessary anyway.

Unfortunately it had no effect on the Blue-tooth. :banghead:

4. No software to download I am aware of, only drivers and they are up to day.

5. No blue-tooth icon on task bar.

Thank you for the suggestions and the time to respond to my issue, any further assistance would be appreciated.

While I agree wholeheartedly that Pr3d4t0r has been sadly misinformed and is thereby missing out on what could be the best thing to happen to them, we will not say it aloud just yet. I still need the help. :handshake:

As sound as that advice could be, the Blue-tooth has never worked, I have just never needed it before now so I didn't care. So from the install of the system to the update and beyond, it was considered. Thanks for your suggestion, please keep them coming. No two issues are the same I am believe it is something simple I have over looked.:confused:
 
You have got to love modern technology...
I posted that I need help and a link to this post on my Facebook page and within hours I had a screen share connection on Skype. Here is what we did. I hope it helps someone else as there are hundreds of posting for this issue on Google.

Uninstall Bluetooth and Wireless drivers in Device manager.
Go to Add/Remove programs and make sure Bluetooth is uninstalled.
Download the driver packet for both, Wireless and the Bluetooth from Asus.
Drag folders to desktop and open the Bluetooth folder, Do Not use AsusSetup for Bluetooth.
Open folder named Vista_Win7.
Open folder named Win64.
Near the bottom is a BTW file, click it.
It will either offer to Repair Bluetooth or Uninstall depending on your situation. Mine was to Uninstall.
Install Wireless drivers with AsusSetup from the downloaded driver packet.
Reboot
Return to Win64 folder and use the Setup file at the bottom (not the AsusSetup), it now repaired, updated, and installed all software and needed drivers.

My friend "thinks" the Windows 7 service pack has a newer Bluetooth driver so it is not allowing the Asus setup to install/repair the program. That thought path is well above my pay-grade but who am I to argue with results. Not saying this is the fix for all, nor am I saying we did not use more steps than necessary. What I am saying however, is that after all this time, I now have a fully functional Bluetooth connection on my Maximus V Extreme. :wiggle:

LOL. Yes, and I now have the tablet, the cell phone, and the printer connected successfully.

Don't have that option and also we don't usually close solved threads so just grab yourself a beer and enjoy the victory instead ;)

Yes you did, and partially correct. The real problem was in the Bluetooth software, but that was affected by the drivers.

As it "seems" (best I can explain it and honestly this is a stab in the dark). The "Asus" drivers were not permitted to install because the Win7 drivers were newer. Problem is, without installing the "Asus" drivers from the download you do not get the Bluetooth software package.

When checking the drivers, Windows would say they were up to date and working correctly. When uninstalling and reinstalling them, they would resort to the newer Win7 driver rather than the "Asus" download and the "A newer driver is already installed" nightmare would begin again.

I spent most of my life as a mechanic, I am far from your level of understanding, so bare with the explanation please. All I can honestly say to be fact is this.

After MANY attempts to delete the drivers and get the "Asus" packet to install, the ONLY way "I" was able to do it was in the aforementioned manner. Also keep in mind, I did this with someone that "absolutely" knows what he is doing sharing my screen, so the likelihood it was unnecessary is slim. I wish someone could explain to me what happened but I am so happy it is working I am looking for extra stuff to connect to LOL.

Maybe it was the 2.5 year old driver packet from Asus, maybe I have bad luck, or maybe this was a sign that I need to start asking questions rather than letting my stuff sit here half working LOL.

Either way, it got me off my @$$ and back to tinkering with my computer. Now I am off to Air Cooling section to get a question answered so I can start the next repair. You are a bad influence. <--- a good thing. LOL
