Well it has been ages since i really did much in the office and finally a couple of months ago i decided enough was enough and it was time for a change. I am a Service manager for a small PC shop here in brisbane and i have been really throwing myself into my trade and really enjoying my career (after 5 years of trying to find a great job i finally managed it).

So being in my trade i manage to accumulate a whole bunch of digital junk, hardware related junk (gems i mean) and a whole bunch of knowledge along the way. So as it happens i have managed to accumulate a couple of new machines and a few other bits and the old office was starting to look really really terrible. So it was actually the wife that said to me that i had better spend some cash to get it up to scratch.

So my main machine really hasnt changed still a 3770k, 16gb RAM on a Z77-UD5H still on duel 27 inch screens dual booting mac and windows. I managed to score a file server with a i7 2600, 24gb RAM with way way too many HDD's, and a little i5 with 16gb ram for a media PC. The network side of things was a complete mess im not even going into details but there was a time capsule involved and that was about it. I dont know much about networking so i roped my good mate from our sister company who is a networking genius to help me sort it out. So after about 2 months we finally have come up with a shopping list of sorts and after a short trip i have started the journey into getting a nice office sorted out.

The overall plan is to get a proper network established with a new internet connection. Get new desks sorted out and get some sort of file system established. Get all the machines in the house reformatted, reinstalled on new drives. The goal is simply to hit the reset button on the I.T. department in my house.

Now i tend to use the office as a office/mancave/workshop so i have some specific needs. So the shopping list consisted of new desks, new speakers, network switch, router, access point, HDD's, SSD's new PC case for the main machine, network cable, keystone points, power points and it goes on.

First cab off the rank was desks, 2 IKEA Malm desks in white with opposing slide out side panels. Grabbed those and got them up in a few hours, i basically got them up and threw my gear on them just to have something to prompt me to continue. I got a set of Logitech Z906 5.1 speakers and a Netgear GS724T 24 port switch this last week or so and it was high time i started to get some serious work done. I called my mate josh over and we tore the office apart. The first picture i will link is in mid cable manage as we had to cable manage the desk then slide it in to place. Every possible care was taken to try and hide as much cable as possible the only thing that will be changed in the back is the network cable as it is on backorder at the moment.

Anyway enough words.
