Blitz Blues

RMA it dude. As I said, I've only had this problem with my Commando (and just about every P965 board). Since testing out the P5K, P5K3 and Blitz I've not experienced the problem once - and that's with tons of overclocking, benching, switching of hardware etc.

Besides, with the NB leaking water on your board fook knows what kind of damage it could have done.

I'm making the request now...

Edit: Jimbo, what heatsinks did you go for? I also need some low profile SB/Crosslinx heatsinks - the heatpipes/fusion is coming off!

I've got a swifty copper block on the NB, Microcool on the mosfets and I'm waiting for those enzo thingies for the sb & crosslinx (tho atm they are running passive on stock volts totally fine).

Dude! You ordered already! Damn it. I wanted to get in on that. Did you get them from Sidewinder? I'm thinking the postage will be a killer!

Yeah mate sorry. They are actually sending some items for review, so they got tacked on with them. I think they have already been sent, but if not do you want me to see if they'll pop ur order in with mine?

Hello again.

After a lot of messing around the pc is working, mostly.

The usb ports etc are now working, stalker does (which i think is pretty crap tbh), the t'internet is not but thats because of the temp wireless network and i've changed it to wpa2 - don't reall care about that.

The pc boots up and shuts down, will game/prime etc. BUT sometimes after shutting down, the next time I boot up, the fans et al come on, but no monitor action. If i kill the power at the mains, wait a few seconds then fore back up the pc boot up fine into its OC profile at 4.0ghz and is fine.

Well, more specifically the problem seems to go away with 444*9 (well it happened once i think), but happened with 445*9. Weird. I set prime off this morning so i'll see what it says when i get home. Last time it primes for over 5hrs so i'm not sure what the problem is.

When I was gaming last night i experienced, tearing(?) on COH - part of the map turned into a big 3d block of mess, but it went away after 20secs or so. Funny thing was, i downclocked my gfx card to 625/925 before gaming. The card benches at 680/1000 and usually sits at 675/950 happily.

I'm begininng to wonder what the fault is. Is the mobo faulty or is it a bad OC?

The mobo now seems to hold the settings, if it does the 'fans come on nothing happens with the monitor thing' killing the mains power for a while resolves the issue.

Obviously this is not a long term solution, i just wondered what other people thought - especially our in house blitz owners :)

I had almost exactly the same problem with graphics that you described. It actually turned out that my pelt was dripping water on top of the card. Not sure why it didn't kill it outright. I take it your NB leak is fixed now tho?

As for the other stuff, I wouldn't waste your time trying to fix it imo. Just get it sent back asap, get a new board and hopefully be happy.

The nb seems to be holding. I noticed the push pin wasn't fully in, I 'clicked' that in and it hasn't leaked since!

The rig is still outside of the case, even though the lian li arrived some time ago. (Friday I beleive. I'm not putting a faulty rig into a case just to rip it out again.)

Anyway, for this reason water can not be dripping onto the gfx card.

I guess I just had a glimmer of hope when the rig seemed to be stable, apart from the ocassional hiccup. You are right. I'll just send it back and hopefully get a decent one.

Off topic: I take it it was too late to add my order to yours? tbh, if it is/was no worries, if the NB on the new mobo is sweet I'll keep the standard setup.

Edit: Ham, well that actually varies. I've tested 1.45-1.6v in the bios, obviously looking to keep it lower (due to sytem instability i'm not even sure if the voltage is to blame tbh). You actually reminded me - how accurate is pcprobe? that shows voltage 0.5/6v lower than bios, is this the droop? E.g. 1.6v in bios = 1.54v in windows pcprobe. Anyway it will sp1m up to 4.3ghz iirc on 1.6v bios, and had primed for 3-5 hours at various voltages. 1.55v (bios) seems ok. Little higher than i'd like but I'm on water... I haven't had a change to play much due to all the issues I've been having.

Edit 2: I just found out that loadline calibration sorts the vdroop! I turned it off iirc as I didn't know what it was! DOH!

anyone who is having troubles overclocking with Asus mobos i recommend reading this http://www.thetechrepository.com/showthread.php?t=30 the main thing what i understood of this article was, if you keep your FSB either lower than 370 or higher than 400 you shouldnt have any troubles :) Instability appears when fsb is clocked between 370 and 400 Mhz.

edit: Thats exact problem i am having with my p5b between 370 and 400 the board is so unstable that it just wont boot at all, strange errors appear and so no (XMS thanks for that little tweak how to get the mobo in oc recovery mode, without resetting bios).

Seems blitz and q6600 don't play well together... Linky one of the post links to another few blitz/q6600 owners...

Not sure if to wait for the X38 now...

i only had a short time with a friends blitz formula board, but managed to get his Q6600 fairly stable at 3.7GHz (passed all benchmarks and occt'd for an hour)

since then he's pushed to 3.8GHz and has been stable while gaming for hours (s'all he needs/wants it for).

when i was speaking to him yesterday he told me that he had been running prime on it for nearly 4 hrs *shrug*

i did witness the restart bug, but apart from that, i had no major probs

[edit]

lol, that's the system i was setting up - day187's in that thread

he came up from stoke so i could retube his watercooling and set things up
