Black and Orange Z77 Switch 810

cracking build log matey :) Nice updates. That 840 looks grand :) I just got 2 and need to find a way to show em off! :)

Glad you decided against the magnets matey they would have made a mess of things ;) Good job on the backplates too, shame about the single zip-tie in there, would be good if you could find a way to stealth those...

Keep it up! looking forward to more updates.

Magnets are a no no around circuit boards, risky risky. I like how things are coming along, looking really good, nothing to object. Glad you're keeping a log, and will be following along.

Good Luck!

This looks really nice. I'm impressed. Im going for the same case in white, but with red/black interior soon. Just wondering, do ppl usually buy all the cables in matching colours separately, or do they braid it themselves? What did you do? And where do they buy them from? Amazon and Newegg?

my package came in....so updates coming tomorrow...

on a side note, got a wicked deal on a Tt BigWater extreme 2.0 !!! $63 (open box and - a $25 appology discount)

i was just gonna get a lil h55 for moms rig....

think ill get a build log goin for that too....

Bitfenix alchamy!!! those things are so high quality, the twist-ties that hold them together are made of quality materials....

posh all the way around....here is a link to ppcs.....i love those guys....they actually opened up the box to the Prodigy (i just bought for mom) to add MORE protection!!! they really do take care of their customers....

(knuckle crack)....back to it i suppose.....

first up I'd like to tackle somethin that bugs me to no end..... the new "non square fans" (new corsairs, cm excalliburs, and the cougars im using are all examples) .. as most of you have noticed they dont fit rad's too well. leaving air gaps to lower their effective static pressure.

so in comes Si rubber gaskets..

jan2013011_zpscf97f495.jpg

I've gone through a few different gaskets....and these are BY FAR the best ones ive used. They're soft, they fit, and they cover the WHOLE fan....

here is a comparo shot to a cheaper inferior product

not good....

really good

again....here is a shot with the packaging....ModRight....give'em a shot

Nzxt in line was the false floor under the rads and re-install the 2 fans on the inner-most rad.

to seal down the aluminum floor i just used some permanent dbbl sided carpet tape...

and also you can just make out where i put those nice gaskets....

Ive also started to run some of the tubing....While not what I originally bought (XSPC High Flex Hose 1/2″ ID, 3/4″ OD (clear)) I found this to look too bulky....
so i picked up some PrimoFlex Pro LRT Clear Tubing -7/16in. ID X 5/8in. OD
However this stuff appeared to be almost TOO soft and def too yelowish blue.

Coming to my rescue Primochill releases their NEW line "PrimoFlex Advanced LRT" This stuff is clear as glass and is easy to work with... Just the right mix of flex and sturdiness. As i have no bends in any of my lines to speak of, I dont need something with the flex of a rubber band....

and this is the reservoir ill be using, a TechnoFront "Eagle" single bay res.

I will also be using an NZXT fan controller.....

most likely i will mount it BEHIND the faceplate in the top 5-1/4....i like the looks of just the middle 2 being used....

ok...thats it ftm....next up- ssd's and 2700k

this is going to be a teaser post!!!

the next pics will be of a watercooling (technique?) that's been rattling around my brain for a while now. It's something ive not seen and have been dying to give a shot. If this works i think it could be especially useful on a 2011 watercool build.

anywho, need a new SD card before i can take&toss up the pics. but the deed is done!

reader....sd card reader.....sorryz

looks awesome but sure the fan that don't have the bit round the outside are really inefficent and all the air leaks out of the sides

there is a method to the madness....

you cant stack radiators like that with a fan in the middle....causes an air dam...odd phenomenon

i could have used a couple of 140 fan shrouds..... but this looks way cooler

all in all they are REALLY low fpi rads and a single fan attached to each will be plenty to cool a sandy cpu and a cppl 670's

looks great, although that psu sticker :s

WHAAAT???? why you no like-A-ma stickah???

way better than the seasonic one..... i think the ASRock one ties the mobo in nicely

ok.....thanx for all, kindness and criticisms alike!!!

On to the one of the last "left field"design touches....I've wanted to see somebody cool the back side VRMs since they started putting aluminum plates there....

this guy isnt just a backplate for the heatsink on the front side....there is a whole bank of vregs under'em...
JANX3002_zps0e1a9d38.jpg

so....without further aidou.....

I had these koolance vrm blocks before I got the ASRock mobo (Im a lil embarrassed to admit that originally this build was to be an AMD FX8350 on a Sabbertooth 990Fx) I was going to mod the Sabbertooth VRMHS to fit over a cppl of these koolance blocks...OH WELL>>> they can go back here instead!!!

JANX3004_zps5ed66fce.jpg

but the backplates were not thick enough to countersink an M3 bugle head screw in through the back of(front?)or back of back backside backplate heatsink....OMG im getting dizzy....lol

so I decided to go with a really sticky thermal tape to mount them....and yes, I know im going to hafta mod the side panel

JANX3015_zpsf5ad9f6f.jpg

JANX3011_zps0894d907.jpg

cppl other lil ideas Im batting around Ill share in a bit.....nuff to chew on for now tho.....

Some may be wondering if im adding too much into the loop for the pump to handle......

Well here are the spec of the X2.....The one of note for me is its nominal head hight.....8.5......METERS!!! almost 30 feet...thats a lot

Motor type 2x Electronically commutated, brushless DC, spherical motors
Nominal voltage 12 V DC
Operating voltage range 9 to 13.4 VDC
Max. nominal power (@12 V) 18 W x 2
Max. nominal current (@12 V) 1.5 A x 2
Max. nominal head (@12 V) 27.9 ft (8.5m)
Max nominal discharge (@12 V) ~ 4.17 GPM (15.8 LPM)
Maximum pressure 22 PSI (1.5 BAR)
Temperature range Up to 140 °F (60 °C)
Electrical power connector 2x Molex 4 pin
PWM + RPM Signals 2x 4-pin connector
RoHS Compliant
Port thread standard G1/4
MTBF 50,000 Hours
Weight 15 oz
Dimensions (not including fittings) L4.9" x W2.8" x H1.6" (L126 x W72 x H42mm)

Finalized pics of the loop order. (the two tubes on the cpu blocks are just for show atm (still need to mount cpu))

it goes,

Pump>>>>CPU>>>>(down to) VRM>>>>420mm radiator (EK XTC)>>>>(out through the back) VRMx2>>>>(out the bottom from behind mobo tray) bottom GPU>>>>top GPU>>>>280mm (EK XTC)>>>>280mm rad (Phobya G-Changer)>>>>Bay (single) Reservoir>>>>Pump

JANX3020_zps2af3f13c.jpg

Now one other thing im gonna do is cut a hole behind the mobo in the side panel.....(need room for the elbows)

im thinking of running the wires away from that area to keep it clean and put a window there ??? with one small led???

if i do that id like to put one of these two items over the back of the socket ...

small fan id run at low rpms (not to add noise) and ever so slightly cool the back of the mobo with some air movement??? (prolly wishful thinking)

JANX3016_zps4b2eb5f4.jpg

or......OR......

the other HDD cage handle ???

JANX3017_zpsb1c6598f.jpg

idk.....yet to make up my mind on that one
