[BL] Feronix goes ITX

You know what, I've never once tried the multiplayer. Seems like YouTubers have a laugh when they play it though. I'm gonna buy it on PC. I won't continue it on PS3 now, I'll save myself for the re-release. :)

The only reason I played the multiplayer is I had Xbox Live codes lying around. Its a little buggy and likes to crash, but it good fun when you can get a game.

We'll all have to get into it on PC. I'd imagine it'll need some decent specs, its a really good looking game.

Maybe, but if an Xbox/PS3 can handle it, hopefully a PC will handle is quite well. Lest hope for a good port :D

Nooo we don't want a straight port, we want all the fancy graphics and more! Rockstar have said they don't want it to be a straight port and nothing but the best will do. :) Its going to be more densely populated as well which is nice. I like listening to random people talk on the phone, every word in GTA is funny.

PC guys are in for a treat. :)

Now I'm excited :D

I did an oops and some shitty software removed my bootloaders.

I'm now reinstalling Windows... :(

:p

Accurate

OS X is installed, it's just the booting/ setting up the dual boot that's the problem. Hmeh, I'll have another look tomorrow, before I reinstall everything :p

---------

Small update

As this is going to be a dual boot project, I've installed Windows 8 on the SSD with one of the Caviar Blues as storage drives. Created user libraries and installation folders on the storage drive and installed some software and games.

I also installed OS X to the second Caviar Blue, which works out of the box with my motherboard, apparently. I have audio, LAN and my GTX 760 is recognized without any kexts (drivers) which is awesome.

It's just dual booting that's a small issue now. The Chameleon/Chimera bootloader is not doing what it should do. The first image is what it should look like, the second is what mine looks like.

I then tried adding an OS X bootloader from within Windows, using software called EasyBCD. It didn't really work. It gave me the choice to boot into Windows or OS X, but when choosing OS X it would go into the Chimera bootloader and when I selected OS X again from there, the PC would simply reboot and I'd end back up at the EasyBCD screen.

So I booted back into Windows and removed the bootloader I just created. For some weird reason EasyBCD did not set the only bootloader left to the active one properly and so I could no longer boot into Windows. I had to do a clean re-install (the part where I 'done fucked up').

Right now I've made slight progress. At least I can now have all drives plugged in at the same time. It boots into Windows no problem, but when I want to boot into OS X I need to insert the install USB cause otherwise it won't boot. The funny thing is though; with the USB in the PC, it cannot boot into Windows :p

Soooo once I've fixed the bootloader issue I can call this a succesful project. I've posted about my issue on the Tonymacx86 forums but so far I didn't get a reply.

On another note

I've just requested to RMA my videocard. It makes an annoying low buzzing sound that is not incredibly loud, but very, very annoying. I think the fan might be unbalanced. If I do get to return it, I'm tossing in another two tenners and going for the reference EVGA model, don't want to take a risk with Gainward again.

That does mean that as long as the GPU is gone, this PC cannot be used as the Xeon does not support on-board graphics and I have no back-up card, so I'll have to use my workin back-up Hackintosh with an i3 and HD4000 iGPU for a while again.

Guess who got a working dual boot? ;)

Had to run MultiBeast to install the bootloader to the drive and now Chimera works flawlessly. This did create the new problem that I did not have an internet connection within OS X but after a quick Google I discovered that apparently the two ethernet ports on my board have different chips; One Intel one and an Atheros one. Switched to the Intel one and it was fine. Good to know that I'm also using an Intel port in Windows now :)

Just want to figure out how to remove the extra two boot options to the right that can't actually boot and how to rename the "System Reserved" partition to "Windows 8" within Chimera.

Now posting this from OS X Mavericks with working GTX 760, audio, USB3, LAN and sound input :)

Excellent project! Must travel to Netherlands and see about this Grass!!??

Thank you! Awesome to hear from one of the best builders around here ;)

What did that say Donderdag? Doesn't it mean September? :D

probably Thursday

Donderdag means Thursday, indeed. September in Dutch is simply 'September'.

Oh is it date, I thought W8 showed month. :p

It actually says Donderdag 28 Augustus, which means Thursday, August 28. Would be weird if it said September cause the post is from August 28 ;)

So how did the RMA with the gpu go? You had any info yet?

Sent it to them yesterday, just received confirmation of arrival this morning. Now awaiting verdict from the webshop.

Edit; RMA got approved! Swapping it out for a reference EVGA GTX 760, but noticed that another webshop sold that exact card for 24 euros less. I have replied if they are willing to bring down the price to the 224/230(with shipping) that it costs there. If they aren't; I'll ask for my money back and buy it at the other webshop. Probably going to take a few days extra (fml) but nearly €25 difference on the exact same card is just too much.

Sorry for the late reply mate, I wanted to toss in an update as well but I've just not had the time/money to work on the rig :(

Kind of want to swap out the RAM to 2x8GB still, cause I've got 2x4 sticks lying around doing nothing right now, but I would feel kinda bad about it. Would you mind if I did? 8GB just fills up so quickly when rendering a video.

I did get my hands on an EVGA GTX 760 SC, which is a great card but also noisy. Apparently they are vBIOS locked to have a minimum of 40% fan speed, even though it idles at 28C or something ridiculous like that. Wanted to watercool it (maybe with that Raijintek) but unfortunately I don't have the money for that right now, so I might attempt a bios mod :)

---------

I'll just give you guys a temperature update then, considering I'm pretty damn impressed as the only casefan I have is a 900RPM 230mm Bitfenix Spectre Pro in the front, which is on a 5volt adaptor so it does (900 : 12 x 5) = ~375 RPM.

The only other fan is the 120mm Spectre Pro PWM on the H60 as an exhaust. Also, the GPU is a blower style cooler (so exhaust design).

When gaming, the GPU tends to overclock itself to the 1202MHz mark on GPU Boost 2.0, so it doesn't go above 80 C. All this while on 60% fan speed.

The CPU does up to 55-60 C. When rendering video I saw it go up to 65 degrees, but never above that so far. The CPU fan is set to a silent profile in the Bios.

In idle, the GPU fan is pretty much the only thing that you can even hear.

That is fine mate, i know the feeling right now. My head is going insane on the same problem, but i have 2400 mhz in my pc and they a NOT cheap :/

I also need to make a big update to my post, but the rig is down right now. Had some problem whit the board, so it has been send back to Gigabyte and i'm on a hold right now. Hope they get back to me fast, but have also think og getting the blackboard from Gigabyte Z97 range and use my CPU from the Z87 board i have.

But all the things cost and right now. I'm so low on money and that hurts me :P My shopping list have two Dell 24" LED UltraSharp U2412M IPS, but when the money is low. You can't do anything :D
