Bitfenix Shinobi case mod

Bought the standard dark wood, now its time to cut one in smaller parts and try out some different staining, i got both staining for wood, and fade-colors for automotive use.

Time to add fans and radiator in a test-fit to see what and where i need to cut.
Noticed something i didnt think about, the holes is not lining up. I totally missed that little detail.

Well, time to wake up my neighbours and start up the drillpress.

The holes i needed landed in the middle of the fan grilles on top of the case.
So i made a new roof for the fans and radiator.

Made out of 2mm styrene, mounted to the case it will be stiff enough.
I use the 140mm holes to rivet the plastic to the case, and made new holes for 120mm and radiator.
This is a prototype and the real deal will cover the complete top of the case to get something to build the case top from.

Rad mounted inside, it will go up about 10mm more, dont have shortened the bolts yet :)

But... the rivets bent the s*it out of the styrene plastic, i will drill them out tomorrow as its just a test to see if riveting the top is possible, wich its not :)

The roof will get the same "look" as the front later, here testing with some cardboard to see what i´m deling with :P

Side view of the case will look something like this.
Grey parts are the "wings" on the top and front. (dimensions not correct, just a 30 sec paint)

Sleeving time!

Just going to figure out wich colors to go with, i like to "break" a pattern, black and red on the outside probably will get too much to run on the inside too, maybe.
We´ll se

I have some to choose from.

I have ordered other memorys now, so i get black heatsinks on them, dont know what brain damage i had when i ordered blue ones...

Bad luck on the styrene, but when you said you were using it I did raise an eyebrow and wondered if it would be strung enough.

Braid wise, Wow what a choice. i know what you mean about breaking things up, but personally I like to continue a theme as too many colours etc can make a build look confusing and cause it to lose a lot of impact.

The styrene is strong enough, but i didnt see that the holes was countersunk in the roof, thats why it bent. Now it works perfekt with some washers :)

I tested some colors, but it will probably look best with red and black. I have one idea of picking some colors of the wood to put inside the case in sleeves, but i think i need to paint the inside first to see what colors working together.

Everyone is on vacation/holiday in Sweden now, boring times waiting on the waterjet-guy :)

Heres the new roof, not bent :P

Some parts, ands its going fast now ;)
waterjet-guy taking ages, so theese are cnc-milled/routed.
1mm Aluminium :)

Too bad Be Quiet have their color codes for their logo, otherwise it had been really cool with a brusched aluminium one.

You can also see the bitfenix logo there, or parts of it going on the side of the case.
The ring is the outside of the fan grille, and the letters are just parts of BeQuiet! logo

Some small filing to do, this is the "raw" product, cutter head is 2mm dia. and cant make the sharp inner angles, but thats a piece of cake :)

4 done, 20 to go.
The camera flash killing all the color of the Paracord, its really intensive dark red ;)

Time to wrap this up and get it done

Checking sizes on all small parts before i paint them.

Side door with window have the right color, but wrong shinyness, need to sand it down and paint again. More dark red and more shiny is what im locking for.

Thinking about saving the bitfenix logo in brushed/polished aluminium, may get some nice details to the dark red case :)

Sorry for crappy cellphone-pic, will take som better pics later when im home again.
