Big Red Resurrection [Switch 810, RIVE, 3930k, Crossfire 7950's, Corsair EVERYTHING!]

Very nice build. I also have Corsair SP's as intake on my lian li pc a04b case. You need the high presure fans if you have dust guards :)

Having just sleeved a full set of PCI-Express cables on a 1300w psu.. I can see no such 'resistor' ?

The magnets on them(which are not on all psu's) are for noise/interferance reduction so far as I know but that's it? Is this what you're referring to?

'Ferrite Cores' they stop 'eddy current'

I like this, this is nice.
Regarding watercooling the ram, since when has building pc's been about what we need?
If that were true we would all still be on outdated platforms and chipsets and using cases that are grey on the inside.
Also it is your pc mate, do what you like. You're the one who has to look at it everyday.

And since my PSU doesn't even have them, I think I will be perfectly fine.

That was my thought exactly... I might do watercooling on the memory... I will have to see how I feel. I know I'm going to use Dominator Platniums in one system, but I think I will still use these normal Dominators in Big Red (or what ever I call it).

Okay guys... I pulled out my gpu's, and decided to switch out the thermal compound.

Here's one of the cards out.

Unscrewed the 4 screws holding on the heatsink on.

The stock TIM and cooler... Seems like a bit excess.

Doesn't take much to polish these. You can see my MW3 poster on the wall.

A different focused shot, where you can see that I couldn't see all of the tiny capacitors and things. I'm pretty darn sure that this stuff is non-conductive, so it will be fine.

Here's the cooler's contact point. It is extremely hard to clean... It seems like these have a diamond texture.
IMG_0978.jpg

Here's the bead of thermal compound that I put on there. Let me know how well I'm doing with my TIM application.

And the moment of truth... Did I break anything? Does the card work?

I've never seen a GPU die turned 45 degrees like that.. how strange, and a really strange Shim as well..

Personally I'd have spread out the paste, but that's one of my habits, I don't like the 'pea in the middle' method. But if it works, hey presto

Incredibly over priced. Bloated bass, bad extension, boring mids and no highs.... superb headphones for hip modern musick

I think that's just how the 7950 chip is...

Looks like a lot of paste dude.
Like Pexon, that looks like a lot of paste to me. Perhaps i'm missing something in perspective, though.
Yeah, it does look like you used too much paste.
Yeah, looking back, it's probably a ton of compound... But this stuff comes out thick, and then magically thins out. So I accidentally spewed a blob onto it.

I'd have personally been willing to sacrifice the couple of degrees your TIM change got you to keep the warranty tbh.
Pretty sure that putting waterblocks on later on down the road will void the warranty just as hard. Plus, how will they know if I opened it or not?

You have beats :O Faith in you lost xD But seriously this is looking really nice :)
Beats aren't expensive and they aren't remotely good.

Oh my god. Can we please stop the headphone wars? I get that they suck. They are stupidly overpriced. But I can't change what I get for Christmas. I have no control over it.
