BFG 7800gtx has arrived :)

Where have i flamed you? Am i missing something here?

I doubt it's throttling at all, especially stock, it's supposed to work at these clocks.

It may be the forum toy then for the ep uk members lol I will build someat up over the next few weeks for trial and see how good/bad it is ... It will be a nipples type chiller that dont look perdy based on a mach1 obviously sponsered by the big man Phil :)

Yeah and then u can make a huge cascade fr us to share so team EPUK can go top in superpi and all the 3dmarks. Just give it to me last because you can't really expect me to give it up :p.

Thats all you had to say mate - not all the swearing and cussing at the same time - Thing is you're firing from the hip without even trying, thats why you scores are not as good as the other single card guy :p

You make me wanna slap a single card score in just to beat you some more and prove the point :D .

I think we all learned from this one eh?

I know I did and consider the matter closed.

@ Fatty - If you build it and are willing to let it do the rounds - I am more than happy to pay carriage etc.......

Iam not pretending to be an expert, nor am i one, lol. I was just confused about the temps and core speeds, this is my first Nvidia since Ti4600, gonna take a few weeks to get used to it.

It cannot be throtterling, i just ran 03, at 490/1330 forced in rivatuner and i got like 17.5k, reached 80C load, so it seems fine.

Don't be so quick to shed the tears.:)

Yes watercooling is the obvious solution but if you want to stay on air and the PCI-E slot is free next to the 7800 then I would look either:

Arctic cooling with Direct heat exhaust system (pumps heat out of the case helps keep other things cool).

Or

Zalman CF700

Both are only suitable for single card cooling (not SLI).

Have fun.

The Legend

No water or anything like that.

I might not even bother, ill have a look at some reviews. I think removing the heat sounds good.

Of course it's good - the whole idea is to get rid of the heat before it contaminates the case area and heats up everything else.

Sometimes an overheating chipset/memory/CPU can be the root cause of poor performance :p .

compared to stock cooling - either of the options suggested will provide sufficient cooling and minimise any throttling - one will recirc the heat around the case, the other exhausts it which helps keep all other components within normal operating temps  .

Of course you're probably happy with the performance you already have?

Checking around I must be at the low end of thermal throttling - most seem to see some (if only small) performance drops occuring after the unit hits 70 degrees.
