Beta testing Cooler Master's V10 Hybrid TEC

I was among a handful of beta testers selected to test Cooler Master's upcoming V10 Hybrid TEC cooler. We have been given the green light to post pics and some details so here I go.

Installation hardware is included for AMD, Intel LGA775 and 1366.

The TEC has a standard 4 pin molex power connector and draws 70 watts of power at full load. The overall weight is 1200g and dimensions are (L x W x H) 236.5 x 129.6 x 161.3mm. It has a copper base, aluminum fins and 10 heatpipes. I cannot divulge the price as I am still under the NDA for that.

The rear portion of the cooler hangs over the DIMM slots and users with certain brand of tall ram may experience issues like I did. The heatpipes go up at a slight angle so there is a bit more clearance at the outside slots. As you can see the OCZ Hyper X ram I own was much too tall and I had to swap it for some G Skill I had in reserve.

The alternative ram I had would not allow me to achieve a higher stable overclock no matter how many extra volts I tried. I did manage to boot into Windows at 3.6ghz, ran Prime 95 briefly and noted load temps of 60c. Windows then blue screened before I could take a screen shot.

By the way, you'll notice my 12v+ is shown as 10.91V. This seems to be a glitch with Everest as the true voltage is actually within specs.
 
Not to burst the bubble but wouldn't wc be far superior judging by the temps, doesn't seem much better than air, Must admit i've never had that cpu but I know my old noctua could do better with my i7 @ same volts/ghz

i7 is 45nm, Its a different ball game..

I have a Z600 (you cant get much bigger cooler wise) and im ilding on the load temps shown, albeit at 3.2ghz...

i7 are very very hot.

what with all the onboard controllers etc...

thsi is true but I know that the i7 is hottor for fact I had a 65nm quad extreme qx6850 and 45nm qx9770 non of these were as hot as my i7

Just had a little look up, and a q6600 equipped rig uses 254w, whereas a i7 Extreme equiped rig uses 205w stock... The difference is bigger than expected tbh.

maybe you right then but my i7 @ the clock and volts (1.25V below will hit 60C

AND @4GHZ 1.4V and qpi 1.36 70c prime load with no HT!!!!!

and this is the norm!
 
Gotta say that the i7, clock for clock, pumps out more heat than a Q6600. This is partly due to the L3 Cache and onboard memory controller.

Perf/cost.. If I go I7 thats £200 less towards a gpu, and sinse the only thing that really taxes my system is games it seems to make sense to save money by going Phen II
 
I see, gotta tell you this though if your lookign into 4870x2 or gtx295/gtx 280 sli etc the 4ghz of i7 cpu really psh the gpu on

it seems my 4870x2 needs atleast 4ghz to fully open up!!!

If your gonna buy a competely new rig, If it was me bearing in mind I have never had phenom but am a i7 owner, I'd go I7 it uber fast and your takeing no risk of dissappointment knwoing you have the latest and greatest, id save a little longer :D

Just to say for a 3GHz OC on a g0 Q6600 those temps are shockingly bad.

On air mine reached that and its been at 3+GHz all its working life. Now WCing at 4GHz still has loads of only 52C.
