Best water setup for cooling X850XT

Hiya guys

Wasn't sure where to put this thread.

But i'm wanting to water cool my x850xt. I will hopefully be getting my Mach back soon from denmark. So all i need it to cool is a GPU. (x850xt fans are doing my head in)

I was thinking of getting a single rad and fitting it to the top of my lian li p-65 case. Probablt move my optical drives down abit so it can fit close to the front of the case.

As for pump. Think a small one will be good enough. hidden at the bottem like someone did on here recently.

Not sure about a rad. Maybe a 3.5 floppy one. Then all thats left is a block.

So if you could give me any ideas that would be cool.

My card can do 567/620 on air. Get lock ups after that. So need to volt mod i think. Temps on air were good never going above 60°C at full load. So think there would be some head room for a volt mod on air. But if i can cooling well with water then so much the better.

Its either that or get a whater chiller from fatty and make a case for it and then stick it on the top of my case!!

Hope you can help

Yep single rad is perfectly adequate for the gpu (they dont generate that much heat on their own). Maze 4 Acetal block should do nicely, along with 1/2" tubing, perhaps a nice little c-systems pump. Then you've got room for a res if you need one.

im also going to be watercooling my x850xt soon when i get round to it, going to build a little radbox for it though as i dont want the bits inside my case

hydor L30 sound like overkill for this sort of thing? as i already have one i was going to be chucking in :)

let me know how you get on with this, id be interested in results (my card does 600/610 before artifacts etc appear)

P.S got round to overclocking that X850 you had phil?

I have only just got this system up and running on air - I've got the DFI SLI-D, a 3800+ and a OEM XTPE850, just running 3dmark now as it happens. I shall be watercooling the cpu with a Storm block, and the 850 with a Maze 4 in all likelyhood. But I just want to make sure the hardware is doing its thang first.

hey dude, for just the gpu a single rad will suffice as phil said

tho if you have the cash, fit a dual, incase you later on want to drop the phase and wana add a cpu block, if you have no itention if this then just go for a single

gpu block wise, id get a maze 4 acetal from phil, or if you feel like waiting a while maybe check out the silverprop HL, both will prefrom pretty much teh same , just preference i guess

pump wise as a maze 4 is prettyy unrestrictive you easily run a silent pump like a 1048, but thenagain im sure the noise of a phase unit will make any pump seem silent anyway.

maybe consider swiftech mcp350 (phil if you can get these in you will sell a tonne as when modded give even more head than a AQX 50z)

res thats up to you, id use a tline tho for ease/price

rad maybe a thermochill, for even better performance/and cheaper tho aesthetically not as great is a heatercore, but you'll need to shroud it correctly to get the most from it

Hey BAcon you have your GSkill at 320 what settings are you running to get that stable????

my gskill isnt capable of 320 on either of my chips, my 48 spaw tops at 301 1:1 2.5-4-3-7, the week 50 which i have now sold topped at 305 2.5-4-4-7

the spaws mem controlelr seems slightly weaker but can run prime stable at 311x9, and 350x8 1.65v using a 180 and 166 divider respectivly

to know the limit of these sticks id need a FX55 which i doubt anybody is going to lend me ;)

as regards to the water again, my x850xtpe cooled by a silverprop HL clocks very well

air clocks were 604/600 stock cooler, water clocks with no mem sinks is currently 641/600, when my ram sinks come for the gpu ill clock the mem up, then after that ill need to try y hand at a volt mod, be that by permanant variable resistor or a pencil mod. neither of which i have tried before

i think with the right voltage id hit 700 core easy
