Best memory brand!?

There is always a best. For example, the dominator series that you pay $600+ for is not because they slap a price on it. It's high quality, high performance.

I always look at this with the idea of bang for buck. Corsair may be good as you are saying, at the top end of things, but it costs a crazy amount of money, you can build a decent little rig for how much it costs. Mushkin are at a sweet point for value/ performance in my opinion. Again, that means top of the tree to me, value for money/ related to performance, not what is the most expensive, 'is the best.'

That is true, but I think the Vengeance line is great value for performance.

i can only speak for corsair dominator ftw

always had corsair except geil once but mostly corsair and they still continue to live up to my standards

but their are plently other brands that are equally good but i can't really recommend that i don't have experience with

Kingston is the best ram manufacturer. They actually manufacture RAM.

Corsair is a sticker company. They manufacture stickers... Look at various reviews on newegg about Corsair ram, and see how many received unmached modules in their tri-channel kits. The kit says it's 1600MHz and often there is one or two of them that can only do 1333MHz (and has the SPD programmed only up to 1333). Their QA is slipping. They also have too many revisions for the same product.

OCZ is dead. We all know it.

Mushkin is fine but they are EOL-ing kits too quickly.

You can also look into bargain companies like GSkill or Patriot, but I wouldn't. Not when you know what happent to OCZ.

Corsair don't just slap a sticker on anything. PSUs and RAM have corsair parts as well as some other manufacturers parts, like most products.

They all have there pros and cons - not one is perfect, it's how they deal with RMAs, how reliable it is and the aftercare support.

For those reasons, Mushkin, Corsair, GEIL and G.SKILL stand out above the rest.

Just RAM'd my memory kit. They provided advanced RMA, so I received a new set before having to send mine out. No down time = more gaming.

I have to say Corsair are amazing for support and warranty, easily the best company I have ever dealt with. They really do go the extra mile and are helpful and pleasant the entire time. However I havent had RMA experience with the other RAM companies mentioned here.

But without a doubt , Corsair are an excellent company to deal with and their PSU's and RAM are very good. I feel its worth the extra just for the peace of mind knowing you will have no hassle with any issues you get.

Agreed!

The thing I dont understand is. If Corsair are so brilliant because of the RMA side of things - and many of you appear to speak from experience. Then why have you not stopped to think, why am I RMA'ing in the first place? Surely the trick is to never need the customer service. RAM should last decades!!! Hence the lifetime warranties.

I appreciate that its great though that they do have great RMA service, but thats not my point and it shouldn't be needed.

Unfortunately the only RAM I have ever had issues with has been with Corsair. I have had 2 kits not run at rated speeds and have also had a couple of kits cause conflict with motherboards causing all sorts of instability probs just trying to run them at a minimum base speed. I only kept buying due to rep. But lately I have had enough and now am fairly convinced little or no testing goes into the matching of the sticks in large kits.

Maybe its just down to bad luck. But its a luck that keeps rearing its head for me from X58 onwards when kits and capacity started to really increase. Now there HX1000 PSU's pn the other hand are one of the most reliable PSU's I have ever known.... swings and roundabouts maybe.

Other brands I've had loads of success with are ironically OCZ (sometime needed more volts, but were always solid once that sweet spot was found). And G Skill at least claim to actively test the sticks as a kit and I've had no issues with them either. I've also tried Kingston without issue. I'd give Mushkin a go. But Corsair are simply overrated in my experience and I'll never be buying them again.

Of course these are all just personal experiences. It can end up being a debate like that of AV software

Very shallow minded view, RAM is just like any other product ever made, sometimes products are faulty when they leave the warehouse due to human error or mechanical fault, it isn't going to be perfect every time. Not only that, human error by the people using the RAM is probably more common, using it on an incompatible board or not installing it correctly. I think the fact they have such a good RMA service is great.

Same things stands for EVGA and their video cards.

My GTX 590 for example... it has a lifetime warranty. I'll stand by EVGA any day because of their warranty, customer and RMA service. I've never had to RMA the card, or any EVGA product for that matter, but it's a load off my shoulders if anything ever did happen.

It's having that security knowing that they will provide you with a working product, even if that does mean exchanging it.

So what if Corsair memory had to RMA'd? It was painless, a smooth process, and I didn't pay out the ass for another kit. Regardless, their RAM performs outstandingly well.

I think you both missed my point. I think and agree its great that the RMA service is top notch - and I said as much. My point was that ideally it should not be needed. And if you do keep needing it, then maybe it should be a consideration and indication to the reliability of the brand.

I dont see why that justifies an insult of being "shallow minded".

Understood. I guess it's just my personal experience with Corsair that has me slightly biased towards the brand.

All of their products have performed well and the one return I dealt with was painless... therefore... I <3 Corsair Long Time.

For my new build i'm looking to try out mushkin for the first time as they have earnt themselves a good reputation
