best gpu upgrade with out a bottleneck

I just upgraded my CPU and motherboard. and I have already ordered some more RAM since I only have 2gb right now. I currently have an ATI 4670 512mb and I was thinking it's probably time to upgrade. I want to avoid a bottleneck since my CPU isn't the best. I have about $150 USD to spend on a new GPU. My power supply is 600 watts so I don't think power is really an issue. I'm not a fanboy of ATI or Nvidia so any card would be fine.

Ati 4870 would be a huge increase in performance and it fits the price, so does the 5770 i think although I dont know how much they cost in the US probably wont be able to afford one of those ;)

Are you planning on overclocking the CPU at all? if so then I think the 5750 would be a nice fit for you. I have looked at that card alot lately. I was thinking about maybe added it to one of my rigs that I am working on.

yes, I plan on overclocking. My roommate's friend is going to do that for me since he is more experienced than I am.

personally i dont believe everything tom's hardware say!

but! notice they say"it’s interesting to see Nvidia’s GeForce GTS 250 blowing past the Radeon HD 5770 and the Radeon HD 4870 crushing the new mainstream card as well"

if a gts250 kills a 5770 then it will crush a 5750 and then again 4870 will crush a gts250 too! a gts250 is basically the same as a 9800gtx! i dont know about the usa i am in the uk! but i sold a 9800gtx for £55 not so long ago have also seen used 4870's get sold for £70-£80 although the 5750 has directx11 will it really be strong enough for dx11 games?? my choice would be to buy a 4870! :)

Bottleneck = load of nonsense.

Only advice I'd throw into the chap's dialogue is that looking at the review site's graphs etc for performance isn't very helpful unless they're also using an E6300. Being as the one camp's drivers rely on the cpu more than the other.

Wish I'd known u were selling the 9800GTX+ for £55 >.<

I will wait for DX11 cards from nvidia, and i hope ati will drop the price of the HD5870.

But my asus9600gt still run all games in high spec at 1920*1200, only dx10 is problem. lol

I think i will wait one more year.

Umm yeah your 9600 definitely can't.. LIAR! :p

Maybe some old games but not the newer ones. :)

Probably wont be much difference with what it's like right now.

The new Nvidia 300 series cards are expected to be released march/april for as far as I know :)

yea, but the local retailer where I buy my computer parts may have a sale sometime later so I'm waiting for that to happen too.

GTX 260 would beat a 5770 especialy when overclocked,and a 4890 destroys the 5770,5770 is the real low end of the ATI DX11 market,+1 for a 5850 or 5870

This day'n'age I'm surprised some like Googley haven't got a realtime world map where people can input their weather conditions.

(some1's gonna do a linky on me I can feel it)

EDIT: Here's a nice one for Jim, I actually posted this in the Snow! thread :p

The 5770 and GTX260 trade blows depending on the game actually... I took a look into this as I was building a rig for someone and it was out of those 2 cards really.
