Best GPU for price atm?

My old 4890 is starting to spit and splutter, I need an upgrade!

I was looking at the XFX DD 7950 for £215 ish pounds, I prefer the AMD cards, but you guys know what you're on about so let me know whats the best I can get with my money. I'd ideally like to be spending no more than £200 really, but obv there's a small amount of room for a bit more, e.g above.

Thanks :D

EDIT:
Seems we both forgot to asking if the OP was wanting to OC in the first place

No i'm not really looking to OC the card, I was never a fan of over clocking the GPU, try to get the most life out of them that I can, lol.

Ah that's nice, I'll take a look at the review. Do you know if they get really hot or not? I was looking at the 7950 because i've heard its cooler is really good and the cooler is important as my pc gets pretty hot at the moment.

I'd go for the 7950 tbh...
Although try for a Sapphire, Gigabyte or Asus card instead. The XFX 7950s aren't too great. They don't overclock well, and the coolers aren't particularly quiet.

Having said that after TTLs review of the Club3D 7950, a lot of members here rushed out to get them and were massively disappointed by the overclocking performance of the card - leading to the assumption that TTL's was cherry picked. Therefore it wouldn't surprise me if the other Club3D cards were also...so just be aware of that.

i would go for the 7950 or 7870/tahitiLE/7930. both represent the best value for money. the 7870 is better performance per pound but lacks the additionnal 1gb of ram the 7950 has. it all depends how much the extra ram id worth to you.
id personally get the 7950 and extra vram

Good information, my xfx cooler on my current card is pretty loud lmao, but it is old and has some wear and tear so it's to be expected. Am I allowed to link considered cards from sites? So you can see what i'm looking at? Or is that not allowed?

in that case how many screens you running?

if your planning on upgrading it to just one 1080 monitor then one of the 7870 tahiti le cards will be just dandy

I may do one day, but the 1680x1050 is alright for now, as you may have noticed by the age of my gpu, I really only upgrade when it's necessary.

I think I may go for the 7870 though and save my self a few squid.

THANKS! :)

Would you take a 670 instead of a 7950/7970? regardless of price? Seeing as a 7970 is about the same price as a 670.

Currently hoping to build a new rig, If i dont win this Custom corsair! haha.
Would be upgrading from a GTX570 and Q9450 rig to a i5 based rig.

They're too expensive, 7950 is really at the top end of the budget, but I would prefer AMD cards because I have a crossfire enabled mobo. Always prepared :)...lool

tbf 7950 is overkill for powers needs, even the 7870 is overkill for that monitor, may aswell save some money, that tahiti card is up there with the 7950 anyway

that's what I was thinking. It's out of stock at the moment on the Kustom PC site that TTL linked in his review. Hopefully they come in soon. ^_^
