Hi guys,

The title says most of it (may stretch to £1700 max ) but the main thing I want is a decent gaming laptop which has 2 drive bays.

I have been looking but I am just stuck on what brand to go with ?

any help would be appreciated

Thanks

The desktop style ones ;) , MSI have good ones... like the MSI GX660R... Asus have one too, but I cant remember off the top of my head.. Edit: The Asus G75VW has two drive bays... Both have decent spec

Have a look at the DELL Alienwares if you are a student you will get upto 10% off.

The m14 model is fairly basic. Starting with an i5, mSata slot SSD option and a 2.5 drive, GT650m 1 or 2GB, 1600 x 900 screen.

m17 m18 are more tricked out. Both have 2 2.5 bays and high-resolution screens, with GTX660m(up to 680m)

Personally I think that the m17 is the best bet. Go for that with the screen and gpu upgrade (processor if you can afford it). Then slap in your own SDD and ram. Will be around 1500. :)

Go to the discount store near you - They have a HP with an i7 and a 5870, 17 or 18inch screen for £600.

Spend the extra £900 on desktop upgrades, or an optical bay drive caddy to add your second HDD or SSD (it may already come with 2 HDDs, I'm not sure

This. You could get a 3570k with a GTX 670 / Radeon HD7970 and add some more things. Like a better PSU, like a Corsair one. And a new SSD, like a crucial / samsung one.

Really? What makes you say that? The heatsinks and temps they put out are second to none.

I have no idea where he got that comment from, I know tons of people with alienware that havent had any issues. I haven't owned one myself however most have my family have dell notebooks no problem at all.

I think you may have quoted the wrong post ;) But I myself am not a huge fan of Alien wares, I just find them overpriced, saying that though, I love the look of them too! I just wouldn't buy one myself

alienware is sooo overpriced for what you get

go on a site, add the items together you get in an alienware computer/laptop and find yourself paying half the price of what you would getting it elsewhere. just so it can look pretty

my personal opinion OFC

No. I was agreeing with Meaker about Yeren's comment.

If I was referring to Meaker I would have directly referred to him as 'you'.

Sorry my bad, the fact that you quoted Meaker with "I have no idea where he got that comment from, I know tons of people with alienware that havent had any issues" I thought.... Yeah, sorry :P

But there are cheaper alternatives with the same spec...

I would look possibly towards the Toshiba Qosmio X870 series, only because the Toshiba Satellite / Pro series is one of the best in terms of build quality and cooling.

I would recommend avoiding anything HP related but saying that i'm not sure about their new laptops or gaming ones, Alienware is pretty decent but generally overpriced and weigh a-tonne but I suppose all these gaming laptops do.

Looks like nice value for money there, really good in fact. 2.3 ivy, 8gb ram, 1080p 120Hz screen, gtx670m.

7970Ms in other systems are a bad idea because of enduro.

Dell are the only systems I would recommend with one.
