Best for Battlefield 3

If you can't wait to save for a 7870 (it's what I play on, Ultra everything), then get a 7850. They overclock very well, though you should find one that has 2GB of VRAM. I love my Sapphire 7870.

Nice!! Would you go for that or a 3GB 580 which is around 230 ish?(friend of a friend)

In terms of performance a 580 is slightly better than a 7870 when both at stock so a 7850 would have to have a pretty hefty overclock to compete. I'd go with the 580 for that price.

get two 7970s and get 3D screen with 120+hz as 3D is two pics, so if its a 120 hz screen then both pics is 60hz or 60 fps. try overclock the cards to max and get around 130 fps in bf3 with 3D and have fun in 3D. Good luck with any of your choices tho, but ur on a budget so its bit nono

That was tempting but the problem is I cant wear 3D glasses because I wear glasses (well I can but gaming for like more than 2 hours it starts to get annoying wearing 2 sets of glasses).

I may do it in the future if I find some 3D glasses that clip onto normal glasses.

i occasionally drop to 40 but very rarely. i agree you'd need at least a 570 or better to get a constant 60 fps but i disagree that a 2gb card is needed for 1920x1080 (on high not ultra)

If you're budgeted, you have to go with you're constraints.

It'd be a best option to go for gpu power over memory. 1g-1.5g minimum for decent gameplay these days on a huge %age of what's out there, with a budget.

Without the budget, you cover all bases and go 1.5-3g no question.

I've played BF3 on a 480 heavily oc'd and the 1.5g, on 1920x1200 - and settings all the way up. FPS ? no idea, played well tho, didn't play it long enough cos (I know no one here will like this but..) I wasn't that impressed &--#62;.&--#60;

Have you tried the new 3D Vision 2 glasses? They work great over prescription glasses.
