Best 27 inch monitor?

I am in no way recommending the Catleap to the OP, in fact Dell is always a safer bet. OTOH I know someone who had 3 bad screens from Dell in a row, so-called A+ panels are no guarantee you'll get a pixel perfect item first off. But yes, with the warranty and easy replacement, I'd certainly say Dell, in fact I have one to the right of my Catleap which is why I can compare the two panels.

And guess what? The Catleap is better (for my purposes. YMMV). No 60 or 75hz LCD screen can match a 100-130hz one for moving image smoothness. So yeah, insult my Yamasaki all you want James, this 'runt of the litter' panel absolutely demolishes the competition; until Dell and Asus have a 2560x1440 or higher 120hz screen then that is just a fact of life.

My particular Dell is great, has good build quality, a nice stand that adjusts every which way, USB hub and multi inputs. But doing without all those things (especially the OSD and scaler) and coming with just DVI-D input means the Catleap is way ahead in terms of input lag (or lack thereof).

Just depends on what you use a monitor for most often.

Are you talking about IPS screens? Or a standard LED/LCD 120hz 2560x1440 screen?

Hoping it's not one of the dodgey IPS ones that you can 'overclock'...

I registered simpily to clear up some misconceptions here.
It is evident that those bagging the Korean monitors clearly do not own one.
To make this simple, let's talk about the Yamakasi Catleap Q270.
There are a few places that you can buy these, the most prominent is
on eBay where there are several sellers.
Green-Sum is probably the best seller to go through as they are the
'International distributor' of Yamakasi monitors apointed by Witech (the manufacturer).
Green-Sum will most often go out of their way
to fix any issues with your purchase (I have experienced this).
In my case, the issue that I experienced was not listed in the
auction terms but they fixed it anyway.
There are several options available: Pixel Perfect being one
there is another option (not sure what it is called) that may have a higher
dead pixel count and another option which is 'standard'.
Usually all of these auctions are clear about the posibility of defects,
you just have to read the auction properly.
All of these monitors use A- Panels.
In regard to the 'grading' of these monitors, A+, A, A-, there is no
definitive way in telling HOW LG goes about their grading proccess,
all manufacturers have different grading methods. If you can find
out how LG grades their panels then you are doing well (please post it here).

Warranty:
Most of the eBay sellers do not offer a waranty as such but most of them
are more than willing to fix any issues that are deemed unacceptable
depending on their auction terms. There have been a few bad instances
where the seller has refused to remedy any issues, mainly the less prominent sellers
or due to the fact it is an issue that has not been covered in their
auction terms.

Back Light Bleed:
90% of back light bleed issues are a simple case of the screws on the
panels being 'overtightened'. Taking the bezel off and loosening these screws
will most likely remedy this (it has been proven if you read other forums).

120hzDOTnet (Yamakasi Catleap OC Extreme 120hz+ model):

This model, sold ONLY through 120hzDOTnet and featuring the much
sought after '2B pcb' can be run from anywhere between 110hz and 135hz
(depending on several factors, Graphics card, cable or PCB limits).
120hz/Green-Sum offer a one year warranty on these monitors.
Recent sales have all been tested for issues, backlight bleed, dead pixels
etc. prior to shipping so the chances of you getting a defective monitor
are very slim, even then the issue will be fixed.
Also recently 120hz/Green-Sum have offered a 'Pixel Perfect' version of
the OC Catleap (at an extra $100) for those wanting a 'Perfect' Monitor.
To call these monitors 'dodgy' is just irresponsible and ill-informed.

My Experiences:
I own two Yamakasi Catleaps, one standard Q270 (2C model @ 60hz)
and one Yamakasi Catleap OC Extreme @ 120hz.
Both of my monitors were just the standard model (not Pixel Perfect)
and they ARE absolutely perfect, no backlight bleed and no dead/stuck pixels.
I have had my 2C Q270 for over a year now with no issues,
my OC Cat I have had for about 6 months and it is perfect, no dead/stuck pixels
AND no back light bleed.
In my opinion, there is nothing that can come close to the OC Catleap,
My 60hz Cat is beautiful but the added smoothness of 120hz has to be
seen to be believed.

Pleiades was just defending against someone dissing his monitor, someone
who does not own one (maybe a bit over zealous).
But said person probably shouldn't be making unfounded
assumptions about a product that they have no experience with.
If you do .. it is just speculation, which is definitely the case here.

I would recommend a Yamakasi Catleap to anyone!
Just be mindful of what model you buy and who you buy it from.
