Benchmarking cards

Hi all

Im stuck for some ideas on how to do some benchmarks for cards that I have spare, lying around that have just become parts of experiments that ...well.. ermm never got finished.

Ive a test rig setup with base drivers install for the mobo, all the windows updates and then ghosted it so i can install ati drivers or nvidia drivers as needed.

What should be the next step with benchmarking, what tools would give some meaningfull results?

I found a program called Benchemall which seems to be a little out of date, so do I have to run a few games with diff settings and then use fraps to get the FPS and do a spreadsheet with it on?

If theres a tried and tested way that OC3D does it let me know and ill do it that way and post some results :D

Test your favorite games... CSS, BF2, EQ2 (if u have it, this game will torture your vid card more than any currently availabe benchmarking software), Doom 3, Q4...

Anything you can dig up, run a timedemo or jot down some FPS for comparison between the other cards.

Finally got the rig up and running but im struggling with benching. Is there a timedemo out there for fear or indeed any of the major game demos?

Any games in particular you're looking for a timedemo on? Guru of 3D has a few timedemo's for download.

If you want to torture your video card harder than any gfx benching program around, just install EQ2 and turn the settings up on to Maximum Detail. It'll run at about 1fps or possibly completely freeze ;) hehe

Time Demo's aren't a very good way of measuring real-world performance. Which is why I do three run-throughs of the most challenging parts of all the games :)
