well guys got hold of a nice beer cooler not one of the best but not to bad and the best bit it was only £30.00, with system at stock settings which is running at 1.35v @ 2.6GHz i am getting 5c on the cpu with no load and as you all know today is a hot one and my rooms at 24c at the mo so nice and cool.

anyway a pic for all your viewing, will keep you updated when i get things a bit better.

I sense potential here!! Watch for condensation though- hot humid days make the liklihood of it happening worse...

We gonna see some pics?

:D

I don't think I understand how a Beer chiller helps cool the PC.

Is the chiller filled with water, and then is pumped into the computer via a watercooling system?

Sorry for being such a n00b :(

Its like a water chiller. Cools the water sub-ambient...the way all beer should be ;) It has *some* capacity for heatload, depends on the unit

Hi all well havent done much with it at the mo as i only got it yesterday setup is just in the water loop pump-rad-beer cooler-cpu-rad-gpu-pump, temps went up to 12c burning both cores with prime, so not to bad but this is a twin pipe setup cooler of which i am only running one pipe at the mo so it should get a bit cooler, the best bit is that it is keeping the GPU's nice and cool aswell as the CPU so best of both worlds.

anyway pic of unit

as for the question about setup you need a good water setup first, like what i have of which you can see in the pics i posted, then all you need to do is disconect one of the water pipes and conect the cooler into the loop.

Hey,

looks awesome; however, im pretty sure the rads increase the temperature of the loop...but probably add heat capacity?

Justin

yes it adds a bit of heat using the rads but it also acts like an air con system blowing cool air into the case, like i said just got it so lots of playing to do to get the best out of it.

Hi no condensation problems at the mo as i have fans blowing on the system so there is good airflow, but i do think there will be a problem when i start going colder, but should be ok in the winter as the air temp will be low.

So it's a proper beer/wine line chiller. Cool as.

If i remeber right the hotter the line get the colder it trys to make it all

Where you get it from and can we have some more and bigger pics. I can host if needs be

just looked at your post on OC, well M8 after seeing this i am well pathetic, this is an Awesome setup mate, well done.

not so

you have just discovered the powa of beer cooling :D

and my post was just to give you some of my findings

baz:)

Can we get a pic if you have of the finsished benching bench (no pun)

Do you mind telling us what unit you used? and does it stop cooling after it gets the water to a certain temp or will it continue cooling the water more and more as it goes through the loop giving you major condensation problems? is your beer cooler just about as noisy as a phase change unit?

Was looking for a cheap way to cool my graphics cards when i set up my new system, was going to use peltier cooling, but think this may be cheaper and easier.

Also can you just turn off the beer chiller while your system is still running leaving it just like a normal water cooling system?
