Little update for those interested.

Well It's been a bit of a struggle if I'm honest and cutting out holes has been at the root of it all. It has been so bad that I nearly totaled the side panel which dam near put the project in the skip. Anyhow finally battered the thing into submission and got the holes cut I wanted 120mm in the front / bottom of the case and sidepanel window. They are scruffy to say the least (this game is harder than it looks) but I will be able hopefully mask / hide the poor quality of finish.

I did manage to get a coat or 2 of paint onto the case side frames though which I am more happy with, not quite the style I want just yet (want a grimmer finish to them) so will play about with a black streaking effect and then clear coat for a bit of protection. That's it for now .. soldier on.

Bah!! first attempt at painting Aluminum parts didn't go so well. I used an etch primer (2 coats) and same paint as the other parts. just one top coat and it went west.

obviously I'm doing something wrong. The HDD tray is waste so np there just want to get it right before I paint the panels and handels which are Aluminum as well.

Hey m8. Did you sand the aluminum before primer? Maybe that is why the paint is peeling off.

Yeah sanded down first, washed and dry then 2 coats etch primer.

Well it's been a while so thought I'd post my progress. It's nil zilch nadda. The problem is I can't get any more paint for my build. Half of my parts are painted and half not. I'm not sure what to do about it. I am not going to go another colour as it's starting again and costs to much (about £100 upto now). It's seems I will be best served to just scrap my plans and put it down to bad luck. I will wait a bit longer with my order still in place but it's not looking good.

That's not good at all. How long have you been waiting for the paint to arrive?

About 2 weeks. I went into the store yesterday and asked again about it and there wasn't any more on the system (no indecation when/if they would get some either) so I went online and I couldnt order from there either. I am just fed up of the project now and what with the shitty Bulldozer reviews as well.

Would it not be possible to change your colour scheme slightly? Maybe add some white or black? They always go well with orange.

I could ofc paint the remaining things a different colour but tbh I think it would look odd. The side plastic rims would be orange and the handels black (the other colour of the design), switch panel orange and the top panel which is removed, stripped and a different shade black to the surround...mmm It all gets to far away from what I wanted to do. Thats the point of modding after all and it's falling way short atm. I'll just have to hope the counter staff can chase down some more cans for me in the next week or so.

I've ordered my hardware today should be here by Thurs-Fri. I'll go back in on Wed and if I can't get a def answer on stock I'm going to scrap this mod and try something else. Live and learn... make sure you buy enough paint to finish the job in one go.
