basing new system on amd?

I am in the process of upgrading initially c2d but is it worth basing a new system with an opteron 1212 2ghz? have been offered a brand new one at under £100.

already got 8800gtx and 4gb ocz 6400 mem

was going to use it as stopgap for a couple of months until intel price drops and get updated 6300. but dying to see my 8800gtx in all its glory!!

Don't bottleneck that killer vid card with an Opty, get yourself a C2D and let her rip!

if he goes AM2 then he can keep it and upgrade to K10 without changing the mobo !!!! Figure that !!! But on the other hand he can wait for E4300 to drop in price and mod it to run a stock of 266 mhz fsb and go from there. The only thing with C2D is that the boards are hella expensive.

The 650i chipset boards ant too expensive and theyre pretty good.

Also ASRock do some dam good boards if you want too run at stock.

Not what I've been seeing at AMD press conferences. If they want to make that amount of changes there's no way they can stay on the same mobo's and up the performance as much as they want/need
