Bargain builds? would be a nice video

hey all, been watching the youtube vids for around a year now and always find myself buying something you've reviewed, but i notice I get an odd part from like 2011 and another part from 2012, and obviously what was once a gold award is now like a bronze, and there is probably a better alternative, One feature I would really like to see is maybe once or twice a year, you show the best possible bargain build up to say £600? (maybe alittle more) for all round performance and value so i can play games mid to high spec for a year and slowly update the pc with normal reviews when needed, but I think this video format would get you alot of first time build people who are litterarly noobs to it all and can just kinda copy and paste the best system and even have video instructions on the build so they have feel no worries to assemble it. Anyways wether you take the idea on board or not, love the vids and keep up the great work.

I think one of the issues is, if Tom spoon feeds people with information like that they're not putting their own research and finding what's best for them. The basics for a budget gaming rig are fairly easy, and it just takes a little googling. If a preliminary google doesn't work, us lovely lot on here are always willing to help out :)

Yeh, I do sometimes feel suppliers could do a little more to help though.
The bundle deals they do arent always cheaper than getting the parts separately, and I think that if you're going to the extent of buying all your system from the same retailer they could give some form of discount like dab's offers. Only issue with them is they dont always have the cheapest prices and their RMA sucks

one thing i've noticed is people pay just for convienance, one stop shop get everything here, spoon feeding some people is excatly what they want which is easy access, i guess you could even go the extra step of even maybe putin down a special link where you can buy the bundle oc3d approved sorta thing maybe a get alittle kick back on top.

I have to say I've never noticed people paying for convenience. Especially here, if there's a good deal on somewhere, OC3D flocks to it wherever it's from. If you're going for convenience then I cant see you being the type of person who'd be building a system in the first place as it is all about finding the best deals to suit you. If you dont want that then there are plenty of pre-built shops around the place.

I personally do pay for the convenience I do have to agree with that. But that is only because they do seem to put themselves out little to do the whole order up to 11pm for next day delivery, and I dont know any other retailer for anything that will do that in the UK. That's the only time I'll care about convenience.

If I was building a fresh system though, I would buy from more than one retailer because even adding delivery costs on it tends to work out cheaper, especially as forum members here get free delivery from Aria

no offence but I Just couldnt help but grimise after you said that. The world is run off of convience, from fast food like burgerking, cinemas, online shopping. most buisness models make sure that box is ticked. Bundle deals imo is somebody who's not confident in a build and wants to make sure it all fits nicely. If Tom was to cater to this side of audience also and say this as a bundle deal is the best your gunna get from a performance & quality standpoint for this price range, it would make it convienant for that aspect of the audience. Who is wondering whats the best quality/performance bundle out there. conveniance - OC3D does it every year once or twice and i can find it all in this link.....which they get commision on i think would make everyone happy.

Ah, but his audience is based on people who like looking at separate hardware etc. - a group of people more likely to piece together their own Google Chrome machine.
Although who knows, Tom may really like this idea :)
I don't think it's that bad, and actually quite a lot of the audience may find it interesting. Aria may even like the idea, 'OC3D approved' etc.
All up to Tom though :P

i don't think its a bad idea, but time constraints may prevent this from ever taking off fully, unless some other members stepup
