Balanced Well?

My PC recently died in a horrible "restart itself and then not load bios" accident. So I'm thinking now would be a good time to do a new build. I do plan on doing water cooling for this build but that's for a different topic once I get the base parts selected. Unfortunately, I'm under a budget and really need some extra money for water cooling and some mods I have planned.

Mobo: MSI Z77A-GD65
CPU: i5 3570K
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8GB 1600MHz (One 2x2 Black and another Blue)
GPU: GTX 660Ti (unsure about manufacturer, needs to be reference design)
PSU: SeaSonic X Series 750w Gold (already have this, can't be exchanged)
HDD: WD 1TB 7200RPM
Case: NZXT Switch 810

ok, good start.. BUDGET..

unless you are looking to do masive 24/7 overclock on that 3570k really the GD55
can fit the bill. depends on price differences, some have a narrow spread on cost
as some have a wide price difference.
you lose 2 SATA ports and some power phasing.

RAM - its cool to mix and match colors in RAM, but not a guarantee in performance.
DDR likes to have "matched" sets to RAM with. when not matched a couple of
things happen. app crashes, improper overclocking, stagnate latency.
it's be best in a 2x 4GB kit and look for other things.

GPU - reference is only the superclock or FTW from EVGA.

PSU - unless SLI is in the cards, you can down watt the PSU for budget. 660ti
only needs 24 amps on the 12v rail.. a 500 for short, 650 for conscience.

i dont see a SSD, that'd be a better add-on than the RAM thing.

CASE - it'd be nice to have a large case to work with. but budget constraints
could let you afford other items, still build a water-cooling rig for better budget
items. savings alone from the 810 to a CM 692 is $100 (SSD money).

GD55 is an AM3+ Mobo.
I'll buy a 2x4GB kit instead.
The PSU was a gift so that is basically $190 off.
What SSD do you recommend?
The case is staying no matter what. Just love it to much. I can wait a bit longer for the case I want. Looks are everything to me.

better check that: MSI Z77A-GD55 is an Intel board.

128GB minimum (Win7 or Win8 need some space)
Samsung 830 or 840 series
Crucial M4

AMD\Intel both have GD80>GD65>GD55...

Welcome to the forums.

Looks like a pretty good config to me. As Tom likes to say, "Ivy Bridge loves bandwidth." So think about some faster ram down the road. I've seen Tom recommend 2133 or 2400 many times. Keep that in mind when youre no longer on as tight a budget.

I havent played the others but Sleeping Dogs is an awesome game and if you can swing a 7950.... why not? Playing that game is like watching an epic movie unfold before your eyes, only you're the main character. The Hollywood voice talent involved is worth the purchase.
