Bad luck of dodgy batch????

OK so I get my new system up and running only to find out I have a coil buzz coming from my PSU (original issue). So I sent it back to ebuyer where they confirmed it was broken and sent me a brand new one. Once I had install the new PSU I was shocked to discover that this one had exactly the same problem. How can this be???? I then phoned ebuyer where they confirmed that not only did my last PSU have a coil buzz but when they put it on their test equipment it stopped working all together in about 10 seconds.

After speaking to the very helpful guy at ebuyer we came to the conclusion that my system didnt actually need an 850 in the first place (although this isn't the reason for the PSU failure) and that he will send me a 650 and refund the difference.

Has anyone else had any problems with corsair PSU's? I understood that they were some of the best in the world. Although I think that this was just a really unlucky coincidence I can't help thinking that standards maybe slipping at corsair.

I cant thank ebuyer enough for their very helpful tech team and their great customer service.

I've heard of there being problems with the AX850, but it's so minimal I wouldn't go as far as saying that Corsair's standards have slipped, but you never know. In your case I think it was just extremely bad luck or they sent you back the original PSU by mistake (which is unlikely).

I can't speak from experience, but I can comment about what I've heard. On another note: The Ebuyer Customer Service looks to be top notch.

I dont think it was the same PSU unless they wrapped up the new box and put a security tag on the inside of the box.

Hahaha, it would be quite a stretch, lol. I'm guessing it was extremely bad luck on your part or Ebuyer might have received a bad batch where something went wrong in the production process. Either way at least they are sending you a new 650 watter and a refund for the difference

They did offer me a chance to get change completely. What others are out there if I were to get a different PSU all together?

Enermax and Seasonic seem to pop up quite a lot. I have a BeQuiet one myself and I have to say it's pretty awesome. The only thing I don't like about them are the cables, simply because the wires are exposed and consist of multiple colours, which kind of ruins the look of the inside of my case. Not a good idea if you want your insides to look sleek. I could always sleeve them, but I have neither the time or experience to do that.

For Aesthetics and performance, Corsair are second to none. I was thinking about replacing my PSU with a Corsair AX, simply to improve the visual aspect of my build.

Bad luck. I would still have a AX850 though. You could ask them to test it b4 shiping you a new one. The AX series must be the best looking psu's i know of

I had the exact same problem a few years ago when Corsair started making PSU's - sent 2 back to Ebuyer and ended up with a different manufacturer. However I bought an AX850 in Jan and it has performed flawlessly. You were just unlucky I guess - don't let it put you off Corsair though, every manufacturer has its fair share of problems, and that Ebuyer are giving you excellent customer care is a definite bonus.

I'm slightly scared that the next one will be the same. Might ask for the 700 instead so I can totally rule out a bad batch.
