Guys,
What do you think to this recent experience?
I bought an Asus X800 Pro from a company at a computer fair back in Jan/Feb of this year, cost £285inc. All was well for 9 months, then the card went tits up. I dug out the receipt, called their office and explained the problem. I also explained that I needed a prompt replacement, or a refund. The chap on the phone said that this shouldn't be a problem.
I took the card back to their Leicester store, which is about 40 mins drive for me. They said that they couldn't (wouldn't) refund me for the card, and that the card would have to go back to Asus via their distributor. Then the card would be repaired or replaced (I've never known any type of add-in card or system board to be repaired!)
That was 6 weeks ago! Since then I've been running a crappy Geforce 4 Quadro 900.
Why does it take manufacturers like Asus so bloody long to sort out their warranty returns? Y'know if I'd have bought the card in PC World, I'd have left the store the same day with a replacement card, plus the prices aren't too bad nowadays if you order via the web & collect in-store.
It goes to show, that some companies really place such a low value on customer satisfaction!
BTW. I'm still waiting for the card to be replaced!
