i know the ax850 has this optimized fan mode but ime wondering if it actually ever runs

i read it runs after 20 percent load but id tought running bf3 on ultra mode it would run but its still being stationary

is it possible the PSU is still relaxing in a chair with a straw ?

, and that its still not being pushed enough to run the fan ?

i tend to worry about trivial stuff but i hope u don't mind me asking here

well it does depend on what sources are needing voltage.

overclocking is a power chore.

monster video cards are gobblers.

optical and mechanical drives under load are consumers.

if you are in these catagories, then i'd be suspect of a PSU issue.

there are testers that can detec some of these issues.

but if you have no over-clock and medium video card there

isn't much load and you are over-protected.

loading your cpu and gpu's is not necessarily loading up your psu. I run xfire with a decent overclock on cpu and mild oc on gpu's and my psu never spins up. Its the load on the psu that will cause it to spin not on the comp itself.

Mine only spins up when folding & stress testing = 550w (OC'ed gtx 570 + 2600k @ 4.8ghz).

Other than that it's never spins.

Mine spins up and down constantly when im watching videos and stuff, tho i never hear it, only noticed it cause i didnt have my side pannel on for a few days.
