Ok lads, here goes...

Ordered some nice bits and pieces from Petra's Tech on Thursday evening, and paid for USPS Global Priority. I was given my tracking no. and customs dec no. by Quoc so I could check on it's progress over the weekend. Anyway, by Friday the parcel had left US shores and was on it's way. I checked the Australia Post International Express site first thing this morning (once I got to work) to see that the parcel had arrived in Brisbane @ 1.16am and was being processed through customs.

I then promptly called Aust Post and asked if the parcel was going to be delivered today, upon which I got a reply of "no, it has missed the delivery deadline for today, it will be delivered first thing tomorrow". I then said to the attendant, so you're sure it won't turn up today? (being the 5th Feb). He again confirmed that there was no chance that it would be delivered today.

I have just checked the tracking website again, and this is what greeted me...(click image for enlarged version)

The tracking site shows that they made an attempt to deliver the parcel at 17.18 today, which I believe to be a crock. I was here at that time and they didn't leave any notification that they had been, idiots! Now I have to wait until tomorrow anyway :(

Australia Post........you blow big time:banghead: :cussing: :awhip: :ar: :flames: :nutkick: :argue:

Aw man that sucks.

However we suffer the shambles that is Royal Mail so I don't sympathize that much ;)

Thanks mate, they all need to be rounded up and whipped lol. I thought RM rocked the big one for national service? I heard they were supposed to be exceptionally cheap and next day delivery, have I heard wrong?

"supposed to" yes, very rare that they do. You need to pay three times as much as normal just for a guarantee that one of the thieving little gits at a sorting office wont feel it up for valuables and pocket it. I've had bank statements turn up opened and stuff.

Omg, that's nasty :o

PV matey, Move to the UK! :)

Royal mail is awesome! Plus if you live close to a post office, they deliver there! :D

The US Postal Service is darn good, I don't give them enough credit for their regular mail delivery activities, that's for sure.

They really do do a good job of getting regular mail where it's supposed to go for a measly $.39 stamp.

As far as boxes go... steer clear of the PO!

I find Royal Mail special delivery to be the best service out of any courier. The only problem is that they have no way of tracking your parcel, and if it goes missing you have to wait something stupid like 1 month before you can claim.

Agreed. Only time when I was shocked is when they left our new $450 camera on our front door steps :O

Yeah thanks Kemp. My stuff finally arrived today around 5.30pm, and I had a half day off today which I wanted to use for installing my new gear. Now it'll have to wait until Thursday. Thanks Aust Post

Floopin no.

I`m thinking of taking out a credit card to pay some of meh postage bills >.<

And I`ve physically seen a postie walk to the house, with no parcel, and a card ready saying he couldn`t get an answer.

Too heavy ?

When I RMA'd my 8800GTS, I took it to the Post Office and was told they didn't have any more address tags, so I had to write my address and Newegg's on the box with a big pen, following the attendants directions...

A week later I find the box at my apartments doorstep. (:cussing: !?!?!) I called Newegg and explained that the Alabama Post Office is retarded and would like an extension to send back the video card. They gave me 30 days, and got it back pretty quick (Newegg really does rock).

After that episode I decided never to go through USPS again. :nono:

i hate city link, there tracking system updates about a day after you got the parcel. reallllllly useful!

Tox does your dad work for RM? I think they are very expensive compared to other services and not too quick neither, although if you pay they can be.

Example: a parcel sent from Germany to UK costs £7 to return exactly the same size and weight parcel from UK to Germany costs £22.

I do not blame RM for this but i do think that they are cashing in on RIP OFF BRITAIN and the fact that we generally roll over instead of putting up a fight. Do not fortget RM is government owned, a good source of revenue.

Any way before I get into too much of a rant, it pays to shop around. Some people hate city link but the bloke in our area is great so no doubt everyone has different experiences and make their own judgements from them, as have I.

I know this is a bit late but sorry to hear that, the USPS is very good, and cheap for parcels as well. UPS blows, expensive and always damaging things. FedEx are amazing in my experience.
