Aurus' Colossus Project Log

Wow.... I shed a tear.

I have bought the same motherboard as you, P8P67 Deluxe. What do you think the best thing to do regarding the sata 3 problem? Are you going to return your motherboard for a refund? I don't really want to have to wait until April for a replacement...

I have moved all my connections to the Sata 3 (6gb/s) ports. The Sata II (3Gb/s) ports are affected, so as long as you don't use them it should be fine. I won't return my board for a refund until Intel has sorted out the issue and an actual fix is available. I am actually really happy with this board.

Alright, I have got the last parts for my rig.

I received a Crucial C300 RealSSD 128GB SSD drive (those are the Sata 6 ones), the Edifier S330D speaker system (it's 2.1), and a Steelseries Ikari Laser mouse so I finally do have a proper mouse for gaming etc.

Here are some pics of them.

The Speakers all unpacked with all the accessories, I am impressed they included an Digital audio cable

And here the other two things up close

I am going to install them now and take some pictures while I do so. I will try to upload and post them here today

EDIT: How could I forget? I also got a Noctua 140 mm fan for the case

All looks absolutely sweet, - how quiet is it or does it not matter as the speakers blast everything out anyway

Yep I've done exactly the same. I agree the board is really good, love the layout and I'm sad but I really like that the Asus logo lights up on the heatsink...

It is actually really quiet if you are doing normal stuff, or even playing demanding games. With the speakers on it is to me unnoticable. If I am folding on my GPU, the only you can hear is the GPU fan, but that is to be expected.

I managed to get everything in rather quickly and do some quick cable management. So here are some pictures of the rig with all the parts in:

The Motherboard and the lovely D14.

Little glimpse at the memory.

I did put some extra sata and molex connectors behind the motherboard tray just so I won't have to mess with them if I ever put in more devices for storage etc.

SSD in and ready to go.

The business end of the PSU.

Did some cable management, I know it's not the best and it is something I will put more time into once I have some spare time

That's it for now. I am really happy with this rig.
