Audio Issue

Hi, I recently purchased a new headset (TTesports Shock) and am now having issues.
Everytime I play games my game audio is also being played through my mic, so people in Skype can hear my in game audio even though the sound is only coming through my headset.
Does anybody know how to remedy this?

I have a 5.1 surround sound plugged in the rear i/o but when i game turn the speaker device to headphone.

Was previously using my X41's via spidf and never had any issues.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Check that your stereo mix isn't mixing your game audio in with your mic :)

EDIT : Just googled your headset and funnily enough I have the same one xD

Go to Control Panel -> Sound -> Recording. Do you have a device called Stereo Mix there? if so disable it.

There is no option for that there, I have recently downloaded the x-fi 2 software but when it tries to activate I keep getting an error message. Starting to get a little pissed off now :(

Does it happen just with skype?

It happens in general. If i listen to music through my headset the microphone still outputs the noise. Have tried this out as a test, played some music at very low volume (controlled by in line volume) and checked the recording device and the detection bar is mirroring the playback device.

Unplug the mic jack, does it still mirror the detection bar of playback?
Try going to Control Panel -> Sound, right click and check Show Disconnected Devices, now right click and disable everything that you don't use under Playback/Recording.
Try installing the drivers for x-fi, there might be an option there. What error does it give you?

Have now plugged the headset into the rear i/o and they come up as speakers. There is no audio problem, only downside to this is that I have to mess about with the surround sound cables each time I want to play online with my friends.
Still confused by this.

There is no option for that in the playback device section. There is in the recording device section and that was already unchecked.

Right click sound icon in task bar > Recording Devices > Right click mic > Properties > Listen tab:
- Uncheck "Listen to this device"
- Select "Default Playback Device" from the drop-down menu
- Check "Do not prompt when this device is plugged in"

Maybe that works?

Still nothing, the rear i/o is the only way this is working.
Don't understand why the audio software (supreme fx x-fi 2) refuses to activate. Keeps crashing when connected to the servers.

Does it give you any errors at all?

If you were to keep the headphones plugged in the back i/o you can use a 3.5mm splitter and have both connected at the same time?
