ATI's Radeon HD 5450

I was doing a case modding for a desktop pc and wanted to give it a bit of umphf!

I was wondering if the ATI's Radeon HD 5450 was any good for gaming /performance (TH link )

The GC must be in a moderate price range (around 150 top?) and not a 3'000'000 mile long card or it won't fit, any ideas?

Since it's a HTPC it would be BEST to have something that doesn't sound like a tornado or produce furnace heat :D

for around 150 (im guessing euro's) a 4870 or5770 would probably be the best, or a bit more for a 4890 would be good.

What is the rest of your pc's spec?

1 Swiss franc = around 0.95U.S. dollars so it's less than 150 euro's but you should be able to get a pretty capable card for that money. Something better than a 5450 for sure

ah, well about £90 then, a 4770 or 4850 (basicaly the same performance) would probably be the best bet then, around 3 or 4 times better than the 5450 in most games, and better than a 9800gtx/gts 250 for less cost.

well it would be BEST to have a SMALL one cause the case i'm building is "as small as you can make it". So a low profile one would be best. btw price is NOT an issue since i'm not the one cashing out :D some deep pocket snob asked me to build one up.

still pondering if to go Mini/Micro ATX or a normal one.

performance/noise > size > cost

The 5570 smokes the 5450 for gaming, and it costs only about $25 to $35 U.S. dollars more. (depending on which brand of 5450)
