I am thinking to build Z9PE-D8 WS for work or Evga sr-x but evga is expencive but it does have jumber to switch off the cpu socket and use single cpu.​

due the lake of mony at present time i intend to buy one single E5-2687W to run on asus z9pe-d8 ws and when is the time come i'll buy the second cpu .​

my question is this : do z9pe-d8 ws have the ability to use one single cpu installed or do asus have a jumper to switch one of the two socket off?​

I think Tom said in the review that you can't run one CPU on it's own, not 100% sure though, hold on BRB.

i'm planning to build such a rig too, but witch E5-2667's or E5-2643.

you basically can order servers for example with just one CPU on a dual socket board. if the asus will run properly i cannot tell. but it basically should - without some of the pci express lanes then.

did you consult the manual ?
