Hi guys,

I am still looking for a replacement motherboard and have got my choices down to the Asus Sabertooth x99 and the MSI gaming 9 ACK, I am going for a red themed build and the Rog board Asus does has too many features I wouldn't use such as the OC panel. The Asus board has an OC socket just like all Asus x99 board so that has made my decision as lot harder the MSI board has features such as Audio Boost 2.0 and Streaming Engine (not sure how good the streaming engine is) basically would the Sabretooth suite a red build and will the OC socket make much difference I plan on running my memory at 2400mhz and my 5960X at 4.8ghz on 1.36v which I know it is capable of as I achieved this on my last board before the board developed a fault where the bios wouldn't display correctly.

2400MHz on DDR4 is nothing tbh.

We have reviewed the Sabertooth and its lush. As for the 'will it suit a red build' thats really up to you to decide. If you dont like the idea of the grey then tbh just buy the rampage, no one uses the OC panel anyways (its a horrible gimmick)

The OC socket is actually awesome and allows you to run much lower volts (not cpu vcore) for the subsidiary volts that help with higher memory and cache

Id honestly look at things like the X99 Deluxe etc as well, I know they are white but they are still very strong boards.

Funny you should say about the Deluxe I was just looking at that and the Pro they appear to have the same features or the useful ones anyway as the Rog

Im seeing reports of sabertooth killing CPUs all over...hell, almost all asus x99 havê reports like that...take a quick google search at the matter. Um going to build my x99, and was going for the saber, then i googled it and bam! I think MSI is the safer option right now....

That wasnt isolated to Asus or any of its boards. Nothing wrong with any of the Asus x99 boards.
