ASUS PG248 Swift OC problems

So have a PG248 swift monitor that work perfectly normal when running it at 144hz but when I overclock it to anything above 144hz it goes black randomly for one second and then the image comes back up. So I am wondering if the problem would be a bad displayport cable, the Amd r9 290 I am using or the monitor.

The monitor is made to overclock with Geforce cards only and I don't posses one myself so I can't test if that's the problem or not.

The displayport cable I used was the cable that came with the screen.

Would be thankful if anyone knows my problem or could help me identify it.
Thanks in advance!

I'd say it's the displayport cable. Just because a cable was included, doesn't mean it's any good. It's probably a cheaper cut down version with less copper inside, which means when you go over a certain resolution/hz, the cable will fail. I had the exact same issue with my PG279Q, the included cable would make the screen blink with a GTX 980 Ti going over 85 Hz, but not with a GTX 970 and the reason for that is the frequency of the displayport itself, which can vary quite a bit from graphics card of different make and model.

In order to fix this you need to find a cable that's DP++ certified, most commonly referred to as 4K Ultra HD cable. But be careful, just because it's expensive doesn't mean it's any better., as I found out with Clicktronic cables.
