Asus PB278Q QWHD LED Monitor

QuietOne

always shouting
I purchased this today

http://www.scan.co.uk/products/27-a...x1440-300cd-m-80m1-5ms-speakers-4-port-usb-hu

I was hoping it would arrive on Monday and when I placed the order it said delivery would be Monday but I have had no emails from Scan at all today and I purchased it around 7:30 this morning.

After a lot of thinking I'm beginning to doubt myself whether I have made the right choice. I run a 2700K at 4.7Ghz and a GTX 780 SC w/ACX 3GB and 16GB DDR3 1600Mhz and I play a lot of different games.

Your thoughts?

Many thanks.

so.. what exactly is your question?
a 780 is very capable at 1440p, maybe not with everything maxed out but turn the setting (mostly AA) down a bit and you'll have a great experience

I just wanted to know if I have made the right choice, all I do is game, browse and some benchmarks.

Thanks you two, I just had this doubt in the back of my mind and for the price I really didn't want to regret purchasing it.

Ohh, that's one sexy monitor. you'll be well pleased with it. ;)

1440p looks awesome, especially in strategy games.

ATM i'll probably be buying one of those korean 1440p monitors after christmas. If i can afford it!

please tell us your experience once you get it! :)

That setup is more than capable for that res and the monitor is fantastic. If you ordered it today you won't get it till Tuesday. Weekend purchases from hem seem to count as Monday purchases

Probably the best reason to get one!

You won't regret it once you get it and see that beautiful resolution.
That's probably one of the best monitors out there.
As others have said your 780 will be fine with that monitor.

Thank you everyone, my GPU has had it easy with 1080p so it's about time it did some proper work.

I had a quick look online but haven't really had any luck but are those monitors 60 or 75hz?

60hz on 1440p and 75hz on lower resolutions.
I've read some people overclock the refresh rate to 80hz successfully but I'm not sure how I feel about that knowing how much the monitor costs.

I would love to try but as you said, it's an expensive monitor to play around with. I'll be happy if I get around 60 to 70fps on that resolution.

Scan are sometimes slow but they will have it there on monday as long as it is in stock, if its not in stock they mess you about something chronic! its looks good to me LED, 27", best resolution available, your card can cope with it. looks good! Wish i could afford one!

Orders over the weekend get processed on Monday at Scan. I've never actually seen a 1440p monitor in person, and I'm sure I'd love it, but without having seen one myself I can't imagine how much better it must be to justify ~4x the price of a 1080p monitor D: With GTX580s I'm limited by 1.5GB of VRAM anyway, so I'd only get one in a year or two when I build my next rig.

If it does arrive on Monday which I seriously doubt then I'll post pictures when it arrives and do some benching on 1080 and 1440 and see the performance hit.

I have an Acer 23" 1080p screen and tried 1440 on a custom res, the monitor displayed it but I'm guessing it was on it's knees at that resolution.

Ya upscaling will look different than native. Also being a bigger screen it will look bigger than it should with 1440p which is always nice:p

Welcome to 1440P, 80% more pixels compared to 1080P makes things look prettier :)

The 1080P display wouldn't of been able to display it properly anyway seeing as a 1080P display has 80% less pixels compared to a 1440P display.

I also use to mess about with custom resolutions before I got my 1440P Dell just to get an idea of the performance hit :)

If you ever get the chance to get a good 1440P monitor i.e Dell or Asus jump at the opportunity, You won't regret it.

I do feel a lot better about my purchase now, I just want it already to experience the full 1440P in gaming and in Heaven etc and put my GPU to the test, I don't like using V-sync and on a 60hz monitor running games at 100+FPS has some serious screen tearing.

v-sync introduces input lag too. 1440p with a 780 should do very well with framerate depending on game/settings.

I'll try with everything on max and work from there. I was originally looking for a 2560x1440 with refresh rate of at least 120hz but they were all 1080P screens.
