upcoming board from asus

looks ok. id like and extra expansion slot but 8 slots off ram is AWESOME. i hope the R.O.G. boards keep the 8 slots but include an extra pcie slot an some sexual heatsinks.

http://news.softpedia.com/news/Intel-X79-Chipset-is-20-15-More-Expensive-than-the-X58-225174.shtml

and another article saying that the chipset alone will be between £15-£50 more expensive than what the x58s were nevermind the actual board itself. so its gonna be a pricey product but you guys knew that already. all i know is im getting excited for it. and i may just put off buying the board and processor for i little while until the evga gtx 680 awesome as flip edition with backplate is released. score some of mayhems aurora liquid magic. then run two windows of team fortress 2 at 2560*1440 at max everything while ripping a bluray. its going to be smurfing epic

I'm a bigger fan of the gigabyte board because it appears to be 4 way SLI compatible while the asus looks like it would only fit 3 way SLI

Something I'm very glad to see is the lack of PCI slots XD

8 memory slots, isn't that quad channel then? Does that mean memory performance will be even higher than before?

well everyone says that anything over 8 is excessive anyway so if your gonna do something over the top why not make it really over the top so it will accept 64gb but the max available atm is 4 per stick afaik so yea it is ott but when i get mine ill be throwing in 32gb not cos i need it just cos i can

my system is gonna cost £3000+ so as steve coogan said in the other guys

America has always been defined by its excess. The Grand Canyon, professional sports contracts, Wendy’s baconator, extra bacon! I myself have 18 Lamborghinis, and a Subaru station-wagon. And it’s because of this excess that I have flourished. I implore you, please do not stop profiting. Live for excess, it’s the American way.

im not american but i thought i would be true to the quote and leave it in its fullness

I would like to politely point out that Patriot has made an 8GB single DIMM stick, just FYI

I can't wait to see the EVGA board. The teaser image they released a while back was kind of disappointing as the designe of their heatsinks seems to be a little half assed but I'll wait to see the whole board before I pass judgment.

I just think it's nonsense. I use 16bg and it's only 4 sticks. I guess Intel is trying to hit the server market with Desktop motherboards. And I could get 4 8gb sticks.

Yes that SR2 mobo. That is also a server motherboard, you can ONLY use server Xeon chips in that. It's just a higher grade server board with some more bells and whistles.

I know all that. I've done a lot of research into it. Either way I've kind of derailed the topic.

Back on topic, Any other high end brands released any images?

Would an average person who games a lot or watches movies, does some video/image editing ever need 16GB or more? I'd like to think 8GB is more than enough.
