Do NOT read the writing in small unless I tell you to as this was the previous problem.

So my cousin bought a new case which came with a PSU, a coolermaster extreme power plus 460, and we found that the old motherboard didnt work with it.

So we bought a P5KPL-AM/PS motherboard, hooked up everything including the VGA cable. We turned it on and found that nothing appears on on the screen.

What could be wrong guys?

Edit: CPU fan doesn't work now.

Connected the 4pin wire.

Specs:

E6600

1GB RAM (2x512mb 533Mhz ddr2)

Graphics=Onboard (motherboard)

Sound=Onboard

Anything I'm missing?

That problem is now fixed.

But I have another problem.

Windows doesn't load.

It goes through POST and then it just stops and there is a cursor/underscore constantly flashing.

Normally you would get a progress bar like this:

winxp-boot.jpg

but instead of that you get the flashing underscore.

I'll see if I can get a vid up.

How didn't the new PSU work with the old mobo?

The old mobo was an Asus Ipilp AR.

and the 20/24 pin connector, at the top in black, was smaller than the standard 20/24pin connector port.

Fixed it.

Found out that the motherboard doesnt like his processor. Works with a celeron D but not with his current processor.

So current problems are that core 2 duo does not work with the mobo.

DAMMIT!!

Now for some reason windows doesn't load.

It goes through POST and then it just stops and there is a cursor/flashing underscore just constantly flashing.

I'll see if I can get a vid up.

That's where boot0 is initiated but doesn't continue.

It can be one of 2 things, either ur mbr is messed up which u can fix with the install dvd and diskpart, or ur sata settings are on AHCI and ur install doesn't like it. (theres is an outside 3rd where a dskchk needs to be used to correct some filesystem problems - this is usually when u get to the screen in ur op and it either freezes or recycle-boots)

I'd go with the mbr.

put in the windows cd,boot from it and go into recovery mode,then type fixmbr and press enter,iirc

Guys I fixed the problem.

I had re-installed windows and it worked.

Reps will go to both Nepas and Rasta as they provided me with the most information.

Cheers guys.

Close thread. :)
