Asus Crosshair or Aorus K7

Hi, everyone,

I'm a n00b to PC building so please bare with me. I've narrowed my motherboard selection down to the Asus ROG Crosshair IV and the Aorus K7 for a Ryzen 1700. I've chosen them primarily because of their overclocking support.

I'm leaning toward the Aorus because of the 4 rear USB 3.1 Gen 2 hubs, USB 3.0 variable power control which would presumably be better for quick charging say phones, dual bios, and dual amps and codecs for the front and rear; although I do already own a very good Schitt DAC and headphone amp.

The ROG Crossfire appears to have a far more developed bios, but the K7 does seem to have the basics for a beginner, and the promise the next bios updates to add things like P-States which I don't yet understand, but may be useful to me in future.

Which would you choose and why? There are not many reviews of the K7 sadly, are there any owners of either the K7 or Gaming 5?

Much appreciated! :)

Hey mate so I can't really advise you to Buy either as I litreally started building mine yesterday, but I went for the Crosshair Vhero.

Mostly for there good track record excellent Quality of products and Tom seems to like them so I thought well if they are good enough for Mr Logan.

Then I'd give them a try.

Few pics of the Build bellow, I'll be updating my build log on here tomorrow so I'll let you know more info when she's all up and running.

Great to hear from you, it's been awhile. Yeah, the Crosshair seems the sensible choice, but i'm the guy who always orders the weirdest thing off the menu. Maybe its time to be sensible.

That's a fantastic build, the case (including colour), MB, CPU, storage, and PSU model, colour, and wattage is exactly what I had in mind originally ha! Although my build plans has somewhat changed since then. I'll look out for your update tomorrow. Congrats!

P.S I read Asus has just launched a bios update with microcode AGESA 1006, folks are reporting far greater ram compatibility and speeds!

Thanks buddy, yea been ages now since I first posted my Build log, also its great to hear from you to.

Im really happy with the way it looks so far. I may also slightly mod the Fury X to match the motherboard more.
See how it looks when I turn it on.

I was actually looking at the K7 but as there havent been many Review, I was struggling to decide then just thought go with the Asus, I have to say pics online don't do it justice its beautiful looking motherboard.

Cheers again buddy.
