Asus AV8 3rb Eye - via - any good? nd hlp quickly :)

alright there, i have to pick up an agp s939 mobo on the cheap and need it as soon as poss

ive just got my agp bfg 6800gt...

im not THAT bothered about overclocking as this will just end up as a pc for downstairs but it would be nice if it will overclock a bit

the last agp s939 board i had was the msi k8n neo2 and i managed 325HTT as my highest clock but my venice wasnt stable at this speed

i have a venice 3200 so id be looking at maybe 270 as the highest

any had this board or should i just steer away from the via chipset from the off

its only 35 quid from a competitors bargain basement so its all good

AFAIK the board is fine for a bit of overclocking.

Remove that link please mate, these are phils forums, dont want links to his competitors.

If you can get it for £35 i dont think you can go wrong, can't get robbed at that price.

Is this an abit av8 or an asus a8v? (I assume abit). There's an error somewhere.

Either way I'd personally stay away - I've had driver problems on both the abit and the asus boards with ati graphics cards. I'd get another nf3 board if I were you. I'm sure you can pick up a cheap one of those too.

oh yehh duhh it is the abit av8... i have the choice between the standard, deluxe and third eye...

standard is 41, deluxe 43 third eye 53... but doesnt come with third eye as its a rma return

im prob going for the deluxe as its only 2 quid more

bought another msi neo2 yesterday... gahh i couldnt resist and i really didnt want another via chipset especially since will be my workhorse
