Nice. I assume this will have to be sleeved from scratch again? Or can you still use
some of the Seasonic's cables?

no they will have to be sleeved from scratch again, wont be getting done for a while now, just gonna use the rig, it hasnt been used for about 6 weeks and ive got a back log of games i wanna play

so just gonna enjoy it again for a bit

i just wanted to hear it startup, because of the Seasonic, i had suspicions that it might have killed my MOBO so slapped all the wiring in and kinda clenched my ass as i hit power!

Oh I completely understand, would probably have done the same thing. Sometimes
you just need (or want) to get things working :)

yeah too right!!
now this weekend i can look into a few things.....i may possibly..just maybe...be able to stretch a Titan ;)

Especially if you're concerned that the hardware might have been damaged.

I have had mine for a few weeks now and all it's done is laying in the box looking
pretty . They are awesome cards, to be sure, but I would have never
gotten one if it weren't for computing (BOINC, possibly F@H at some point).

Primary reason besides computing for getting a Titan is probably "Because I
really want one!" (not that that's not legitimate, I have bought many
expensive things primarily because I really wanted them ;)).

do you wanna send me your Titan, so i can see if it will work for me :p, its more for F@H reason, i still dont think AMD can hold there own, although i wont make a decision until ive played with this new Core

Yeah I've read the AMD cards are now supposed the get better at fondling.

From what I've read the Titan doesn't do extremely well at folding, however
you get a lot more Points/Watt than with other cards. Since I reimburse my
dad for the power my rigs use this is important to me. They seem to be out-
putting somewhere between 50k and 70k PPD.

linky 1
linky 2

The second link got 35k PPD at first, which then grew to around 50k PPD. Not
all that phenomenal, but considering PPD/Watt I would say quite decent. Then
again, F@H relies on OpenCL if I recall correctly, for which Nvidia's drivers
are allegedly not that good.

However, for CUDA stuff, such as BOINC's GPUGrid, they should do very well.
Haven't seen any numbers though.

Unlucky with the Seasonic, hope the new one fairs better for you. Glad to see you're still upbeat and not disheartened.

Am I reading this correctly? Two 7970's with 60k PPD each? (It's been a while since
I used FAHControl I must admit).

If so, that's pretty neat. No need for a Titan, then.

not quite, its about 45K per card, yeah wont need Titan, but mother of god its like summer in here!!
i still prefer the console client, i will set that up once ive finshed these units

Ah, ok. But yeah, even so no need for a titan. Good to know that mine is best used
doing CUDA stuff then (so, BOINC it is :)).

Although PPD/Watt would be better, so that's at least something.

yeah PPD/Watt, but im also thinking gaming, no way a Titan would beat 2x7970's

i might keep what ive got, and once i get things settled, i may build a dedicated folding rig

no way a Titan would beat 2x7970's

Yeah I would be very surprised if it did .

But since my rig is primarily computing and I won't be installing Windows on it
for gaming (might do Ubuntu with steam on a second partition or drive, tbd)
it's not that much of a priority.

And even if I do decide to game on the machine, it's not exactly like the Titan
is under equipped ;)

OK! dont mean to alarm anyone.....but

ITS DONE!!!!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO :D

now i know i didnt get the opportunity to full utilize my chassis and watercool it and stuff, but im happy its fully usable in this state, and now that this is done i can plan the next one!!

Now its been hella fun doing this, i forgot how much i love messing around catching fingers and knucles on cases  now to overclock the b-jesus out of it and see how it does!

What i would change, if i was to rebuild this again from scratch i would have researched a little bit more into the availability of the water blocks for the 7970's i dont think you can really unleash the full potential of these cards on air
I would also have had all the carbon covered panels machine cut rather than doing them myself, they look ok to the untrained eye but i can see every cut that i messed up, every hole that was 1mm off and it annoys me...but hey
Now the Seasonic, such a shame that it died, it wasnt through any fault of my own, all that MDPC wont be seen in this rig, but take it from me it looks sexy as f**k!!

Thats it for now folks, thanks for hanging around and checking it out!
Look out for the next build, coming very very very soon ;)
