Hi Guys, I was just wondering, do you think an ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 is a good board? I'm thinking of buying it for my first build, it's cheaper than most other manufacturers boards, which is good to me.
I'm not at all familiar with ASRock boards, but from what I've heard they are not reliable. If you are worried about having problems, then stick with a more reliable manufacturer like Asus, Gigabyte or MSI.
I have never bought an ASRock board and tbh wouldn't really recommend one if someone asked, however TTL is using that very board in the Von Blade custom Bengal Rig. So.... maybe you could ask on that thread to see what people think.
Asrock is crap, I know to many people who built computers for the first time getting an asrock motherboard just because they hav false advertising on amazing gaming performance. They end up dying pretty fast, but i can not really say for their newer products. But to me once a bad... always a bad.
I've just bought this board and I am having problems. For example can't start my rig if the multiplier is above "44", I have a 2500K. It may be I'm new to the overclocking and I'm missing something but increasing the Vcore voltage doesn't help. somewhere read it has something to do with the Spread Spectrum having to be turned on auto but that did not help too. I have just bought it two days ago and there may be some little (or big) option I don't know or understand (if someone knows please help) but I've tried so many options, I am plainly sad
. Also I had a dominator ram from my previous cpu Phenom and it was only stable at 1066Mhz so I had to buy Vengeance today (which works fine now) may be the ram itself but it seems too much trouble to me, especially when I read how other people reach 5Ghz with almost no effort at all. If someone knows anything on the topic please share.
I have heard mostly bad things about asrock, BUT that was about their past boards. I also heard that their new boards are actually pretty good and they've stepped it up.
As for overclocking, it could be a lot of things (I'm sure ttl would not use a board that could only get 4.4ghz
)
Can u start a new thread on the overclocking sections and we can help u out there. But when u post there make sure to include some more detail like the volts you are using for what clocks, and make sure your ram is at default timings/speed
how so? there are both opinions here, as i said i heard good things about their newer boards. but yes most people are still assuming they are bad because of the past... whev they were ... kinda shitty
